As a rule, I don't pass along these "add your name" lists that appear in emails, BUT this one is important. It has been circulating for months and has been sent to over 25 million people. We don't want to lose any names on the list so just hit forward, and send it on.
Please keep it going!

Albertaghost: Cordoba Initiative.
Been asking the folks here to tell me why it is named such. No ansers yet they seem to portray they know all.
If anybody claims to know all then explain why those building the Mosque are known as the Cordoba Initiative.
Why is a city in Spain so significant?
Conrad73: Córdoba (Spanish pronunciation: ; also Cordova; Qur?uba ?????) is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain, and the capital of the province of Córdoba. An Iberian and Roman city in ancient times, in the Middle Ages it was capital of an Islamic caliphate.
Albertaghost: Why is Cordoba, a huge city of the Caliphate viewed by an institution who's intent is to bridge west and east worthy of a name to call themselves by?
What happened in that era that stands as a monument to Islamic religion to make this a name worth something in the here and now?
""Córdoba was the capital of the Islamic caliphate that controlled the Iberian peninsula during the Middle Ages. Feisal Abdul Rauf, the imam who runs the Cordoba Initiative with his wife, named his project “after the period between roughly 800 and 1200 CE, when the Cordoba Caliphate ruled much of today’s Spain, and its name reminds us that Muslims created what was, in its era, the most enlightened, pluralistic, and tolerant society on earth,” he wrote in his 2004 book What’s Right With Islam. Rauf is seeking to align himself with those who see the period as the “Golden Age of Spain,” or what’s called the convivencia—“the coexistence”—when members of the three Abrahamic faiths lived side-by-side in peace, prosperity, and astonishing cultural and intellectual creativity.""
Bolly,I did not know that the Mumbai massacre was carried out with local help. Has your government arrested the people who helped perpetuate the crimes? Surely, there were people involved who watched from the sidelines so to speak.
It is so sad how for the incredible loss of lives in such a beautiful community such as Mumbai. I had no idea that India and Pakistan were on the verge of a nuclear war as a result of this incident until you mentioned it here.
You are quite correct in your assessment that the building of the mosque near Ground Zero will pit citizen against citizen in our country. For sure, someone will see to it that the mosque would be destroyed in the same manner as the Twin Towers. More loss of innocent Muslim lives would occur and the US would be blamed. And then there would be more counter attacks on American citizens here and abroad from Muslim fanatics for sure. And definitely more random hate crime attacks on peaceful Muslims in this country. Drawing the world into a 3rd World War of sorts.
Doesn't it seem odd that the Muslim leaders do not want a mosque to be built anywhere else in Manhattan, except by Ground Zero? That would symbolize a victory for the fanatics for sure. As in, "Yea, we knocked the towers down that symbolize America and we put up a big mosque that symbolizes us." Even the Japaneese did not even try to build a large religious shrine at Pearl Harbor Battleship Row or near the Arizona Memorial shrine that is sunk in the harbor after WW2 ended.
Religious freedom...yes that is OK but not at the cost of inflicting pain on everyone else to get their way. But yet when the gays pushed for their gay rights beliefs and wanted to open a gay bar next to the proposed mosque, the Imams adamantly opposed that. Gay freedom rights were kabashed very quickly.
In my opinion, the US doesn't have to be and shouldn't be tolerant whatsoever of a religion whose political motives are what is behind the building of the mosque as you say.
I was at Ground Zero when the search was going on for bodies. 2 were pulled out the next day. There will still be body parts found in the area in the future for a long time yet, probably in places where one would not think of looking.
I would like to see a museum of pictures and videos of all those who lost their lives as a permanent life memorial to them. Family pictures and videos and also workplace pictures to show the lives of the people who died. Rooms of the peoples lives and then rooms of the ruins, videos and even artifacts found that the families would contribute. This would let the world know that these people are gone but not forgotten. And also an eternal light to be lit or shining into the Manhattan skyline as a constant reminder.
Would like to see the same type of memorial done for Mumbai.

As would I, LillyLady.
I was 2 blocks away from Ground Zero when the first plane hit. I was in New York during a lay-over on a trip to Dublin to see my father's family. I wasn't quite sure what I was seeing at first, but then the medic in me and my Army training kicked in and I hurried along as fast as I could to help those that I could. I used up what medical supplies I had and used my shirt for bandages and as makeshift slings. I did what I could for those that I could. I learned that I lost two brothers from my unit that day. One was a firefighter, the other worked at the Pentagon. While the grief has subsided over the years, the memory will always remain.

I was indeed very blessed to know them, good, honorable, hard working men. I miss them very much. I had suffered a stroke and hearing loss during the first Gulf War and walk with a cane. It proved very handy in helping others. I'm glad that the Creator had placed me there to help as I could.
jvaski: I think the real issue with the mosque will be decided in courts with property law. The Muslims are American citizens What's unfortunate is that we have a group of people in this country who believe that America is exempt from doing whatever operations in other couries that we want - and not have to answer for it. As if it's our GOD given right whether it be in the name of Christianity ....or because we are protecting our stake in preserving our oil rights in other countries. I predict the final outcome will be that we as a nation are NOT the hub of the universe in this "Global Arena"
Yeah, right, with the frigging money coming from elsewhere, like SA,Iran, etc!

If someone want to build a Mosque in Mumbai to show their " brother hood ,compassion " for those who fell to the bullets of Pakistan terrorists \they will have to walk over my dead body.

NEW YORK – Supporters of a Greek Orthodox church destroyed on Sept. 11 say officials willing to speak out about a planned community center and mosque near ground zero have been silent on efforts to get the church rebuilt.
But the World Trade Center site's owner says a deal to help rebuild St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was offered and rejected, after years of negotiations, over money and other issues.
Though the projects are not related, supporters — including George Pataki, New York's governor at the time of the Sept. 11 attacks — have questioned why public officials have not addressed St. Nicholas' future while they lead a debate on whether and where the Islamic cultural center should be built.
