In addition, he has promoted his ideas to groups like Hizb ut Thrir, who desires to impose sharia law on countries around the world, including the United States.

I totally dislike Rauf's tone, and the First Amendment will shut his narrow doctrines and ideas down. One man's word is not going to restructure the spiritual map of America, c'mon Christians have tried to influence the political structure as well as other institutions in America, and they failed. How in the heck would Islamic doctrines accomplish that? You're biting on the fear nuggets and false futures the media is showcasing you with. The First Amendment is our friend...
StressFree: You have your view on this WhatUwish4, and you see things the way you see them. I see things differently. That is all. I do not wish to engage in this type of "tag-you're it". I like you too much anyways---as an internet friend.
Please don't doubt the will and spirit of America to defend the First Amendment, as well as the power of our Constitution. Relax, Islam deserves some tolerance, but not power. Separate the average joe Muslims from the wacky Muslim preachers/Imams. Christian preachers are just as wacky, and they've had some scary suggestions for our society. The 1st Amendment always wins...
I'm always happy to debate nicely, Stress. We don't have to agree ever.
But did you know that our textbooks had to get approval? I didn't even know that one. Can't you see it already creeping in?

StressFree: Call it a bold move towards tolerance.
On who's part? Certainly hot the guy who owns it so, on who's part?
Albertaghost: Let's see, we have an Islamic organization called Islam America? Islamic Cultural Awareness?
Nope, Cordoba Institute. I just explained it above. Where Islam ruled over all - Christians, Jews, Wiccans whatever. Strange name for an Islamic outfit don't you think given the Islamic city of Cordoba hasn't existed for over eight hundred years.
And, the guy who heads it wants to recreate Cordoba here and now with this as the core, the guy who believes that Christians and Jews were happy when Islam was in charge wishes to improve relations using the former Caliphate as the template.
On top of that, he wishes the flag ship to be two blocks from ground zero, a thirteen story cultural center two blocks from radiccal Islams greatest victory. And, if that wasn't enough, this guy refuses to even state that Hamas or the Muslim brotherhood are radical muchless terrorists and, believes America is to blame for 911.
Sure, some might view this as just what you want it to be but, certainly not the guy who owns it who seems to have a vastly different outlook on Islam than the average Muslim.
Scubadiva: I could highlight a few more... but those that I did highlight are BS. You call that "tangible"?
Now I do not know what the Brits are doing, but I know for a fact that this crap is not true in Germany.
Where in Europe are these no-go areas? please? I'd like to know. I will go there and find out in person.
Islamic banking is taking over the financial system? WTF...
Ah.. the rest of this crap is just too damn stupid to even bother to comment on... geezuz.
So much for debating nicely, I don't believe we've ever spoken in the past, so I'm a little curious why you feel the need to be so abrasive? Is that really necessary?
Here's something posted earlier by Steve that might address some of your comments.
Certain areas: in Britain will still have to remain off-limits for servicemen and women in military gear, despite the Government’s desire for a nationwide uniform free-for-all, senior RAF sources acknowledged yesterday.
After the ban on uniforms in Peterborough, ordered by the station commander at nearby RAF Wittering, one senior air force source said that military commanders had to be aware of potential problems of personnel wearing combat and other military clothes in the street.
“We’re aware of the sensitivities, for example, in some ethnic minority communities which is why we need to have a dialogue with local authorities and police if we don’t want to cause a problem,” the source said
Scuba will reply after she gets back from her trip to France.
Albertaghost: If something is true then somewhere, there is probably supporting documentation. That isn't the case for lies and disingenuous spewings though. That's why you seem to be forever unable to find stuff that supports your lies and deceitful garbage.
Again Alberta, I cannot help the fact that you're a total "bone-head" and dismiss everyone's info they provide for you..... Not only do you refuse to acknowledge anything that someone furnishes you - but you actually think you have superior knowlege in any subject ........
Maybe if you're that insecure.....you might step away from the computer for a day and go outsoed for a reality check ..

That was some great "verbal diarrhea" though Alberta !!
Why even considering building a Mosque,-when Quran gives exact&clear commands to it´s followers....5:51,(Al-Ma`idah):"Believers,-don´t choose Jews&Christians as allies,-they support&protect each other".....4:41,(Al-Nisa):"Allah won´t let deniers triumph over the righteous".....58:22,(Al-Mujaadilah):"You can´t find such people who believes in God´s doomsday, and at the same time,-look for friendship with those who defy God and his messenger"....Why even a Mosque on infidel ground,-Quran gives you clear advices not to "mix up" with non-muslims and to stay away from them.....
WhatUwish4: And I would ask you to prove that those facts you highlighted are incorrect as you say. Where is YOUR tangible proof?
My dear lady... I am not the one who makes the assertion. Therefore the burden of proof is on you. You cannot prove a negative. Simple logic.
Why am I abrasive? because I cannot believe that anyone would even post such things. Usually I do not comment when I read these things in order to avoid conflict, but many of the points stated are simply overgeneralized and factually inaccurate. In as much as you are free to post these points, I am free to state my opinion. I did not attack you personally, but if you post something so inflammatory, then you must be prepared for an appropriate response.
Islamic banking is taking over the financial system... I happen to work in the financial system. There is no such thing as a take-over by muslims. That is just fear and hate mongering. To even say something like that smacks of ignorance. The same is true with some of the other points, such as no go areas in Europe. So where are these places?
