WhatUwish4: Look at the uproar we're having over health care and illegal immigration. They have not even pretended to listen, even though the vast majority of Americans LOUDLY opposed their policies.

Probably the majority of Americans would be much happier had Obama stuck to his guns with health reform- rather than completely compromizing the bill for Rebublicans.......
And the immigration issue was purposely brought up and dramatized by Republicans to draw attention to themselves and put Obama and the Fed in a bad light.

People are beginning to wake up and smell the coffee ,,,rather than the tea at the parties .........doh

Indeed they are - which is why more people today disapprove of Obama than approve. They gave him his chance. They WANTED the change he promised..but now they are smelling the coffee.

WhatUwish4: OK let's see... Their Sharia Laws are in direct contradiction to our own. They have an Iman who says bin Ladin was made in the USA, and that suicide bombings are a good military tactic. And then we have the Islamic extremists attack the twin towers and MURDER thousands of people...followed by the attack at Fort Hood, the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber...and on and on.

Here's what I suggest... No more Mosques anywhere in the USA until the Muslims reign in their people and the attacks stop.

We could say the same for the USA in the name of Christianity with our invasions around the globe over the past 30 years roll eyes

Steve5721: yes...he sure is. Free flights, free hotels and expenseds of $200 a day I think it is.

Imam Faisal Abdur Rauf, the so-called peaceful Imam will be travelling to Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates for a 15-day tour. The trip will cost about $16,000 and he will receive $200 daily as honorarium. The state department will also pay for his lodging and the airfare.

Apparently, this is not the first time for Rauf to visit the M.E. His first tour was under Bush administration and he had another trip earlier this year- all sponsored by the state department.

Lead Democrats Speak Out Against Obama Tax Hikes
From Jeremy Weltmer on Thursday, July 22, 2010 2:49 PM

Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, asserted that Democrats should cancel plans the largest tax hike in history at the end of the year. At this point, income tax rates are scheduled to increase for all Americans, dividend tax rates are scheduled to increase to the tax levels of general income (a move that will devastate the nation’s retirees), capital gains tax rates are set to rise, and the death tax will return at its absurd level of 55 percent (which breaks up family businesses and costs American jobs).

Conrad cited chronic unemployment and turmoil in European debt markets as reasons to remain circumspect about the tax increases. “As a general rule, you don't want to be cutting spending or raising taxes in the midst of a downturn,” Conrad said. “At the same time, we know that very soon we've got to pivot and focus on the deficit," he said. "But it probably is too soon to cut spending or raise taxes.”

In speaking out on behalf of the American taxpayer, Conrad represents the most senior Democrat to call for extension of the present tax rates as he serves as the Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and sits on the tax-writing Finance Committee. By doing so, he stands in contrast to President Barack Obama, Senator Reid, and Speaker Pelosi, all of whom have asserted their desires to extend the rates to middle class families while soaking the rich. He has been joined in doing so in the Senate by Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, who supports extending the tax rates now to preserve economic stability and recovery. Moreover, House Democrats like Rep. Michael McMahon of New York, who said that “we're not creating jobs, and raising taxes now would not be a great idea,” and Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, who said that “I think the recovery is sufficiently fragile that we ought to leave tax rates where they are,” indicate a trend of Democrats seeing the prudence of not raising taxes now

jvaski: Stress .......if you start watching FOX news and their fabrications of fact and truth - then we have lost you.
The bottom line is if people don't begin to make efforts to respect each other's religions and beliefs to some degree - then prejudice and hatred preveils .......
I don't personally care for this guy wanting to build the mosque.
I don't personally care for Islamic people in general.
But, I make my judgement of others "after" I give them a chance.

I see your point jvaski, and FOX is usually stretching things for sure. However, when somebody independently speaks, there are parcels of truth that come out---even on FOX laugh

I don't watch FOX news to get their version of truth, I just like to watch it at times and see how they are presenting their news, and comparing it with other media on the other side of the spectrum.

You're right, people do need to make efforts to respect each other's religions and belief systems, and find some understanding. The First Amendment allows the liberty of "free exercise", and it's going to take a lot of courage for a lot of Muslims to now practice their faith in a "free society" since there will be problems in some parts of America.
Anyways, there is no way America will become a Muslim nation lol, but we should have tolerance for their practice of faith in our country---that is a freedom of America. If something sketchy is going on, and can be proved, then the authorities will take care of it. President Reagan once said "Trust but verify!" in regards to the Soviets, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to monitor some places of Islam worship if the intel is there.

I posted a good article about this, and here it is again...

Two More Democrats against GZ mosque

August 16, 2010 5:05 P.M. By Matthew Shaffer
It’s not just Harry Reid. Jeff Greene, a Democrat running for Senate from Florida, had a strongly worded response to President Obama’s remarks at the White House Ramadan dinner: “President Obama has this all wrong and I strongly oppose his support for building a mosque near Ground Zero especially since Islamic terrorists have bragged and celebrated destroying the Twin Towers.”

Greene was careful to distinguish legal right from moral rectitude: “Freedom of religion might provide the right to build the mosque in the shadow of Ground Zero, but common sense and respect for those who lost their lives and loved ones gives sensible reason to build the mosque someplace else.” He suggested that Obama could have shown better leadership by “calling on the mosque’s supporters to find a more appropriate location.”

Rep. Jason Altmire, a Democrat from Pennsylvania’s 4th district, echoed Greene. In an interview on KDKA radio he emphasized that “there should be some discussion about what is right morally, as well as just what you’re allowed to do.” He added, “I think that the people who are supportive of putting the mosque there are missing the point of the impact and the devastation that [Sept. 11] had to us as a country.”

Altmire, Greene, Harry Reid, and the majority of registered Democrats (54 percent in last week’s CNN poll) agree with what conservatives have been saying for weeks: The Cordoba Initiative has the right to build the mosque, but that does not make it right to do so.
