My word this thread has grown quickly since I last looked, as all your threads do. I'm still 3 1/2 pages behind.

When I said you're making a stand, that was meant as a compliment.

I do think that debates get very emotional, which I only have a problem with when it becomes offensive.

Anger, nastiness and not letting go of a point without progressing it can make a debate, or discussion non-constructive and unpleasant for others. However, I do recognise at times that it can be difficult to express a point in a way that can be understood, which can lead to frustration. We are not professionals here and shouldn't be expected to be.

I think the main point here, as ever, is to moderate personal attacks. I have no objection to being called a twit, if I am being a twit and if it can be explained to me why I'm being a twit, but not because somebody is just trying to belittle me and shut me up.
