Witchaywoman: I wish they would concentrate on making politicians STOP making war. Then they should make their politicians start trying to fix the environment.

ladyneda: However, such 'religion' is more appropriate for people with an abstract and phylosophical mind. It doesn't give much comfort and security as Christianity. So it isn't for everyone.

Christianity allows people to stay children forever in some way.

true and untrue! Buddhism can help a person over come mental problems to addictions and help them stay focused in the now its psychology is profound and only been looked at now more seriously in terms of mental health, it would be good ethics to apply it with Christen thinking lol..

i guess we are all children in many ways and need no faith to relies that, thou yes many need something solid in there life specially faith in the unseen. most fear living this life and need comfort and that is good no arguments there, some are weak and some are strong all doors lead to the one, what ever makes you happy than that can change your life in good ways and is good psychology. angel

katt1017: Learn the meaning of the word allegorical and the concept of tolerance. You'll be a much happier person.

Getting out and meeting the people that you seem to hold so much contempt for might be a good education too. It might be frightening for you at first to find out those ugly stereotypes you've hung on all Christians are not true but the real world has much to enjoy in it.

Take a look at it, you might decide it is not such a scary place after all.
It may surprise you to learn that I was raised a catholic. Baptized, First holy communion, spent many many hours being drilled on the Bible, confirmed, went to church "religiously", went to confession the whole 9 yards.

I understand the word allegorical, the problem is YOU DON'T because if you knew these stories were nothing but fairy tales you would not be attacking me for shooting them full of holes. You should thank me for showing you how you've been brainwashed into believing all this stuff because me and people like me care enough about you to show you the real truth, not the crapola you've been handed all your life. The truth will set you free. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

It may also surprise you to learn that I have many close friends who are devout Christians who go to church, who pray before meals, yes I've eaten with them many times and respect their little ritual by waiting to eat til they are done praying. The most religious people I know are also drug abusers, big drinkers, liars, and thieves. I wouldn't trust them alone in my house because things would start to disappear, esp money. I accept their failings but I keep my guard up.

As far as being frightened to go out into the real world and meet Christians are you kidding? I was born & raised on the mean streets of New York City. I've met every breed of weirdo and whack job on earth. We use to have a saying on my block that if it's nut case or weirdo, sooner or later it's gonna walk down this street.

Finally, I don't have contempt for people who believe in anything related to religion, I pity them, and I see it as my contribution to the task of freeing people from the boulder that has been put on their backs so that maybe they can be as free, content, and happy as I am.

SCatlyn: (quote from referred thread - "I put alot of effort in haiting it because its fun. Relieves my stress. Woo.")

While I'm a Christian, I don't care to argue religion, or for that matter, politics, either.
Started thread for the above reasons... don't plan to make replies. (Though if you want a reply, let me know by mail & I'll try to get back to you. Don't mind questions or discussions, but just don't care to debate. Thanks.)
This thread has run very well w/o the input of the OP(& the trolls threads throughout C.S. are now gone). Thanks to all for participating!

It's been interesting to read, & made me curious about something-
I'm interested to know the thoughts on a particular topic brought up in this thread, if you care to give one. (Still don't plan to make replies... just to listen & learn). It concerns something I read & hear about weekly, if not daily.

Re: the videos posted w/"goofy" so-called Christian guys.
My Question - Would You Post The Same Type(comedic, caricature, etc.) Video of Any Other Religions/Religious groups, Such As Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhism? WHY, OR WHY NOT?

*NOTE- There may be those who would answer "NO, B/C THERE AREN'T ANY". I'm asking about reasons other than that(SO IT'S A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION - IF THEY EXISTED, WOULD YOU POST THEM? AND WHY OR WHY NOT?)Thanks!

Guess I should include the original quote to go with the above post...

NordicSkier:

As for you atheists out there, when you finally "check out" from this life, you won't be going somewhere as pleasant as Motel 6.

It is better to live your life as if there is no god and try to make the world a better place for your being in it. If there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. You will also not have wasted a good portion of the only life you get. If there is a benevolent god, He will judge you on your merits, not on whether or not you believed in him. If there is a God and you are punished simply for non-belief,then this god is not worthy of worship.

I don't think it is philosophically possible to have a discussion between believers and none believers. You either are or aren't depending on lots of factors... personal reflection and examination being a few, habit being another.

Just the way it is. dunno

Yeah i knew he despised religion, but was religious in some way.

Well he worshipped communism and that pretty much fell apart........What are the chances of cloning him and getting him to worship scientology?

I think that Christianity is something that is only sincere when practiced alone in private or in very small groups.

Anything bigger than that becomes "religion" rather than faith.

Jesus told people to go into their closets to pray, and he honored those whose faith was only in their hearts, like the woman who touched the hem of his robe.
