ladyneda: I'm Orthodox Christian in origin, but I don't find Christian religion very familiar. I respect it, of course, as any other, but I don't believe in it. It's a little too naive for my taste. But I understand why it gives people stability and it's interesting to observe how Christian belief affected European way of thinking and the way we see and experience life and 'reality'.

nice! so can we go for a date now?grin

SCatlyn: Started this thread in hopes of ending the "troll-feeding" going on in the previous thread on this topic. All views welcome... (just don't care to encourage trolling).

I don't have any problems with Christians really, though some do drive me crazy when they refer God as a heroll eyes, or try and depict some truths from the metaphors in the Bible, especially in a historical perspective. I really do get annoyed when someChristians interpret intuition as God's guidance or how God is in control of everything and so forth. Then of course, what really annoys me, is some of their hand waving answers when the scriptures of violence and a cruel God is presented to them. I will never acknowledge such a cruel God who inflicts diseases on people or uses famines to torment and kill people. Like American patriot Thomas Paine said, "The belief in a cruel god makes a cruel man".

Progressive Christians easily the most rational and open minded religious people out of the monotheistic beliefs, and for them to even exist shows how much Christianity has evolved over the years compared with Islam and Judaism. Christianity is not responsible for so much violence and inhumane acts in today's world as opposed to Islam.

In any case, this is more of a scripture related criticism, and not towards the Christians themselves. I have no need to tell them they are wrong or are worshiping the wrong God---though I will bring it up lol.

The main beef I have with Christianity, is the authenticity of the Bible and how it was put together. Scholars have exploited many holes in the Bible, and even suggested that some books in the NT is more literature than historical. Why do I have a beef with this? Because it could be that people are going around and proclaiming that the Bible is some accurate representation of history and as a new discovery and superior source of divinity.

people are entitled to believe in whatever they choose. i belive in God but couldnt give a toss whether anyone else belives or not. athiests seem to have a rather agressive point of view though when in actual fact they just believe that God doesnt exist and have no proof of that either. people need to relax fact is noone will know for sure till were dead.

I wish that Christians would put the kabosh on politicians and religious leaders telling people how to vote based on what the bible might or might not say. I wish they would concentrate on making politicians STOP making war. Then they should make their politicians start trying to fix the environment. If people believe God made the planet and all the people on it then make the politicians start acting like it. cheers

Too many people are Christian by head belief but it hasn't permeated their heart. Because of this they are a terrible "witness" of the Person they claim to represent. Hundreds of years of men's depravity and sin have darkened what true Christianity really is about. It is about spiritual transformation, which unfortunately happens rarely in a culture of unbelief.
