The good side of the collapse of newspapers is the need for millions of fewer trees being cut down as well as less paper going to landfills. Add to that 1000's fewer barrels of toxic ink being put into the environment every year.

I guess there's an upside to everything.

Fascinating article. I agree completely. The internet is both a blessing and a curse. I personally think that it is alienating people from one another. I am totally not convinced that communicating via CS, Facebook, Twitter et al is a healthy replacement for real relationships and real comminication. In that respect, I don't think the Intrnet is positive at all.

Internet is a tool. What you do with it can be positive or negative and the real world is still there, any time.

Just remember TV and now what is next after internet?

In a way I was a victim of the death of music distribution having been moderately invested in the "new" Napster that is after they were shut down they re-opened as a 99 cent per download business. It never really went anywhere due to a load of other co's getting into it even starbucks for crissakes. Of course our biggest problem was the iPod and itunes. Finally the shareholders had enough of mismanagement and they were going to take over the Board of Directors at the next annual meeting but before they could the CEO sold the co to Bestbuy for about 20 cents on the dollar but he made sure Best Buy gave him a job.

yes good point.

Maybe we should look at history people felt that with the arrival of music video shows like MTV radio would cease to exist.

So in some ways the new technology may also bring many of these aspect news, music, etc to people who have limited experience or a newer interest in them

email and modern lifestyle is killing the postal service. Nobody writes letters anymore. The USPS is losing millions every year. They need to stop making Saturday deliveries and stop delivering junk mail or raise the rates for it. Those 2 things would put the USPS in the black.
