LucieLynn: THANK YOU.
You are my hero.

Recall the scene in A Few Good Men where the commander of the base makes it clear that he has a job to do. Freedom ain't free. So if it gets the war done with while saving life and liberty.....so be it ....and those that don't like it can look the other way....go do some of that nice stuff you are free to do and is paid for in blood.

We do not go out to die for our contry, but to make them die for theirs if they must.

venere08: yes, I think he was hilarious, too. And so did all the cartoonists, and late night show hosts.

I think every country should have a comedian as their Presient/Prime Minister, at least once in their history.
After all, laughter is the best medicine.

Pity he didn't simply laugh off the weapons of mass distruction that were never found, as a big joke right from the start. But then, he did have to finish off what his daddy started, didn't he?

You really need to watch more American tv. Even John Stewart is making fun of Obama now. President "Dude".

grin thumbs up

ooby_dooby: George W. Bush’s bombastic return to the world stage has reminded me of my favourite Bush anecdote, which for various reasons we couldn’t publish at the time. Some of the witnesses still dine out on it.

The venue was the Oval Office. A group of British dignitaries, including Gordon Brown, were paying a visit. It was at the height of the 2008 presidential election campaign, not long after Bush publicly endorsed John McCain as his successor.

Naturally the election came up in conversation. Trying to be even-handed and polite, the Brits said something diplomatic about McCain’s campaign, expecting Bush to express some warm words of support for the Republican candidate.

Not a chance. “I probably won’t even vote for the guy,” Bush told the group, according to two people present.”I had to endorse him. But I’d have endorsed Obama if they’d asked me.”

If some conservative had posted similar fantasy based crap like this about Obama you'd be screaming like an angry three year old who didn't get the toy he wanted.

LucieLynn: Americans and Europeans are so completely different.
I believe in freedom and the Europeans, appearantly, have caved in to Sharia Law.

I sigh..... Does the United States really have to come and save you guys again just like we did back in WW1 and WW2?

We are getting tired of having to rescue you people.
Waterboarding is being used to save lives. Face the fact.

The Americans did a great job in playing their part at the END of the WW2. Let's remember, though, they had the luxury of not having the crap bombed out of their country in the meantime. And it DOES make a difference stepping in fresh, as far as wars go.

invinciblemuse: Am I right to assume that - by avoiding my question about the proof for your claim, Muhammad is the most common baby name in the UK - you can't provide any evidence either??

Okay, let's assume that was you claim is true for a moment - how does that prove that "the Europeans, appearantly, have caved in to Sharia Law"??

Here - Happy now?
Muhammad is now ahead of Jack and Harry

Also, Europeans are not doing as much as the United States to defend freedom, but, hell, that's always been the case.

thumbs up I remember that scene. I think of the sacrifice my grandfather made in WWII and my grandmother's cousin who went down on the USS Arizona when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. My grandfather is in his 90's now and had contracted malaria while serving in the Pacific Theater. He still has bouts of it from time to time. I suffered a stroke while serving during the first Gulf War. I'd give anything to go back to serve with my fellow soldiers.

THE LUXURY.
What?
Our country was in the midst of a serious depression.
People had nothing - what was there to bomb?
People here were starving.
Almost everyone was dirt poor and sometimes the first pair of shoes a man received was the pair he got in the army.
Yet, they answered the call of duty to save Europe from communism and fascism.

First of all thank you for your service to our country!!thumbs up

Now, to address how this thread has dissolved, and the opinion expressed herein represents only what I think and nothing more...

here goes..

War is never pretty, it's brutal, deadly and an unfortunate circumstance a country must wage when liberties, freedom, lifestyle, culture, etc. is attacked and threatened.

If a KNOWN terrorist is tortured in order to gain information about a possible attack on American or European soil and said info prevents an attack...then how can anybody question the actions of the military. I personally DO NOT care about the freedoms and comforts of a terrorist and this is a person which would kill me or you for being of a different belief system, color or from America or Europe...and these animals do NOT know sympathy, have no conscience and no remorse..so why should we even care about what happens to them?

Why because they are a human being?? We live in a world of differences and I can live with and accept anybody that shows me respect and kindness..I will do the same and show respect, kindness and understanding. But NEVER to those that would as soon kill me as look at me, sorry, I have a real problem with that concept...kind of lost on me.

I know it is very easy to sometimes sit back and say what we should or shouldn't do when presented with a certain situation, but..desperate times, desperate measures.

Sorry, but flat out...and burn me at the stake now..like I care..but..what happens to terrorists..NOT a concern of mine, they are garbage and as soon as they have outlived their usefulness for providing information...I say dispose of them in the same manner in which they have done to other innocent people from ALL over the world.

I don't have an ounce of compassion and no bleeding heart when it comes to things like this....back up your country's military and thank them because they keep you safe and warm at night, that's all I can say.

You are free to attack me now, I will not respond nor engage, I've said what I came to say on this topic and am done. Peace.

LucieLynn: Our constitution gives our President the authority of Mark and Reprisal. The President can give orders on his own to take out our enemies by any means necessary.

OUR ENEMIES.
ENEMIES.
Do you understand? Our ENEMIES.
Not everyday average Amercicans - but people that want to kill YOU.

The person being waterboarded is not Mary Poppins who cares for little motherless children.

The people being waternoarded are TERRORIST.
They want to kill YOU and ME.

Waterboard them, hunt them down, I don't care, just get them away from me and my family.

Drug dealers are our enemies...I dunno, maybe you consider them neighborly friends.

Oh, no....you guys endorse torture.
Sharia law is allowed in European countries...such as Great Britain just to name one.

Sharia Law is the worst form of torture and it is happening in Europe now.

And it is allowed by Europeans.

The United States constitition allows(and always has allowed) Mark and Reprisal - Enemies taken out by any means necessary.
Our citizens, however, are protected from that.
