CuspofMagic: Perhaps the Democrats should change it to a Rhinoceros ... then they may not have got cheated out the election they were suppose to have won

We have come a long way, taken some bad paths and some good, since women were being grabbed by the hair, and there was no language.
Now that we have a language (women almost grab men by the hair) we need no longer to look back to shape the future. I wonder if half of the states are happy with Obama and why, and if the other half are unhappy with him and also why.
From what I have heard (Media) the wellfare is the deviding issue, probably too much of a "homeland problem" for me to grasp. The issue is an American issue not for me to understand. I wish I did though, because it looks so simple to solve.
You probably understand it as well as anyone... It's a friggin mess.
Actractorguy: Yes I do. I pay sales, use, property and many other taxes. But those do not feed the health system they go to to the local and state government's to fund them and all the other federally mandated programs that the fed's don't cough up for.
I reckon you might be surprised how much you actually pay the Feds in hidden taxes. It's the same the whole world over mate. The governments have their hand in your pocket so often and so sneakily.
Mind you if you are rich enough to employ a good accountant you can keep a lot more .

Actractorguy: What is the population of your country? As was stated ours is 300+ million.
The poverty rate is Approximately 43.6 million Americans were living in poverty in 2009, up from 39.8 million in 2008.
What is the poverty rate of your country?
Now let's factor in approximately 10-30 million more illegal immigrants. They work for cash and under the table they pay no taxes and there fore do not put back into the system from which they draw.
The US has a law that states that no person shall be turned away from an emergency hospital visit due to unable to pay. Guess where these illegal immigrants get there medical care.
So any where from 52-73 million taking from the system and that does not include the retired and those that do not enter the workforce ever.
Do you see my point. it's always take take take but rarely give back.
Our population is 10 millions persons. yes I know what you are thinking.....a f...h in the Universe.
Things smooths out though when comparing in percents.

The people want bread to eat ... not cake , things haven't changed that much...
Then next ten years are going to be very interesting... just keep your eyes on China it will all stem from there
silentspring: As a European and admitting not much well read on the American politics, yet fairly aware of what Obama stands for, I have to wonder why so many.....of you....seem to be against him.
Obama, the way I see it, is struggling with well fare. he is heading for the model Europe (while Sweden is heading for the American model, although for years have watched it not working) and they will never get it there.
Is it his health care model that is the nail in the eye....or what?
There are more of us for him than you might imagine. (the poor don't make quite as much racket as the upper crust--JMO)do you understand what I mean?
What Obama wants is what is called "Share the Wealth". It can be looked at as the "Robin hood Syndrome". Steal from the rich and give to the poor.
This does not fit well with intelligent Americans. Obama's base is largely the uninformed that will follow him because they do not know better.
America is based on the Principle of Capitalism. People that work hard and make money deserve it. People, who are lazy and won't work will depend on welfare and continue to do so if we make it easy for them.
There are many free social programs for the poor and unemployed in America to find a job and make it on their own. Some won't make the leap to self-sufficiency as long as we continue to support them.

I guess you are right. China. And have to say I do not fancy looking in that direction. It does take the edge of this thread.
We are after all just dust in the Universe, Obama as well, perhaps many people look at him as "the dustrat" Probably in the long run and at the end of the day, we need to do our best, walk as graceful we can, creating and protect our own little island. I am a little worn by now and disappointed so less women chose to join this matter.

Points are well taken. Prior to health care reforms, which are of course still in their advent, uninsured poor flocked to hospital emergency rooms, which, by law, had to provide medical care. This was only the very tip of the iceberg. Billions and billions of dollars were being flushed; often the care was not of an emergency nature (which is roughly 2 1/2 to 3 times as much) but the ill felt they had no other means to obtain care. These misuses of the health care system need to be eliminated, and having a national health insurance provision is a step toward that. Besides, no one should have to go without medical care--if we take that stance, then how would it be decided? Deserving citizens would get tossed out with the slackers. It's maddening, I realize, to service lazy bums, but look at all the other waste we entertain--fat do nothings getting bail outs in the billions, for instance, pick an a**hole to smack. There's zillions of them, not just the poor uninsured.

I do understand what you mean, it is the same way here. I all elections the poor who actually need to raise therir hands stay home, thinking they will not make any difference, everything is aiming towards hell anyway......yet, they are the ones most needed.

I believe in the guy, on the behalf of the poor and also for a safer and happier USA. But I have been awfully wrong before....and by age you lose being confident by nature!!!!

Good luck.
thank you. Enough of us believed in him to elect him, didn't we? AND, the guy was upfront about what he wished to accomplish as President.Gotta hand it to him. He promised health care for all, and is trying his darndest to get it. He's only doing what he said he would do before the election, and I'm proud of him as this country's president.
Health Care is just fine in the US without throwing the baby out with the bath water. The people who can’t afford or receive health insurance are in many cases taken care of through charity donations to Doctors and Hospitals (By the way, these donations come from the wealthy).
Anyone that has a major health problem or a stay in a Hospital will mostly receive a 40% discount on their bills and Doctors and Hospitals will accept the smallest payment plan that the patient can afford. This is cheaper than purchasing individual health insurance in many cases.
Only the ignorant does not realize this.
There are only (2) things that need to be changed in the current US Health Care System right now:
1) Make a requirement to change the current system to allow the right to purchase cheaper insurance across State lines. This will cause more competition in the insurance industry and less expensive prices to the consumer.
2) Allow and support catastrophic insurance for those that have pre-existing conditions free so that they will not be burdened with the loss of everything they own.
(These are the only steps that the Government should be involved with).

Oh my gosh johnaustin, you and I so clash in our respective values.
Are you actually telling me that the "robin Hood Syndrome" does not fit with the intellegent Americans??? Who are the intellegent Americans? In your opinion?
America is based upon spirituality and freedom. To begin with.
Later it came to be based upon battles, rapes and humiliation.
I do not have to go on. What you call intellegent people are also corrupt people, drugdealers, well you name it. Principle of Capitalism---work hard, deserves it---I think I am beginning to understand what Obama is up against, if the majority of the US citiziens consider intellegence the same way you do.
I will never ever agree with you, however I understand what you say---the sad part is you will never ever agree with me, and here comes the difference between the two of us, you will probably not ever understand what I am saying either, unless you receive a sudden wake up call.
