I completely agree with you. The happy older couples I see are happy and compatible because they are happy with their place in life. It is sad, really sad, to see so many people who cannot accept themselves for what they are. I don't think that being 50 or sixty means you have to walk around with a can and have innumerable illness, aches or pains or pills to take. I do none of those things, but I want to be with someone who is at the same stage in life I am, someone compatible. The older person who is not fit and active but wants and assumes he/she should have a young, fit, active and young looking partner seems to be in denial. I think it has to do with advertising and the media, a youth oriented culture, not with genes. With personality, yes, character. For women its the successful ,financially secured and confident man who is 4-7 years older to him.
While for men its the fascination of youth .Anyway ,for many men (including myself) women older or even equal to my age dont arouse them physically ,although its a pleasure to have dialogue with them . Actually may be I enjoy talking to them more.
But for men the physical attraction is very important part of partenship.
For women its the successful ,financially secured and confident man who is 4-7 years older to him.
