I know both men and women on here who feel they are "a few extra pounds" keep asking the same question...why don't people see beyond their appearance...
Now i will say..i am not a thin person...i don't think i'm considered obese..but i might be heavier (or curvier) than some men like their women..but you know what? I really don't care! I like it!

And you know what else...if YOU don't change the way you LOOK at yourself...then don't expect anyone else to either! Sometimes i wonder if its the people you meet that really have the issues with the "few extra pounds" or if its just you yourself...dunno

Having borne 3 children I no longer have the silhouette I enjoyed in my teens. My oldest says the tummy padding is their legacy to me. She's right, and I wouldn't trade it for being childless and slim. hug

i agree i like the way i am and i find that other people are the ones with the problem, if i go to the pool i'm not one of those ppl that puts t-shirt on before going in the pool big AND beautiful, so if you don't like it don't look. that's the way i roll!head banger

The weight thing dosen't bother me cause it is who the person is on the inside. I know what it is like to be sized up though cause I am alot, even was today. But for me it's "OH,your soo skinny" why don't I gain weight or work out with weights to gain or something. I am not thin but people think I am. So don't matter what size you are " you still get poked at". Sometime's people annoy me with their judging.
Like I said it's what the heart holds not the outer part of the person. peace

I was always a skinny minnie(135) til I had my daughter. Then I ballooned up to 180. Managed over 2 yrs to lose 25 of those pounds but I've gained 10 back.

Know what? I earned these love handles.. lol.. and I'm never going to be 21 again.. or for that matter.. 135. lol.
I'm great with that. I often view profiles where the person is being VERY specific in what they want in a mate.. i.e. has to be petite, slim, certain length of hair. You just know those guys are going to be impossible to live with.
uh oh

I agree with you!

Anyone who loves and cares for you should be with you for who you are and not just for what you look like. I can understand concerns for someone's health but other than that it should not be a problem.

I used to be thin but after having kids that changes. I am not obese or overweight myself but I have gained a few extra pounds especialy where as I just had a baby 7 months ago. But I have changed my life style and am trying to get healthier by eating better and excercising etc..(although having kids is a work out in itself LOL)

I will be honest and say I am not happy with my body right now but that is not because of what others will think. Its because its my personal preferences. I just don't feel good in my skin I guess but I am changing that.

I've always liked women with a little meat on their bones. Most women I know who consider themselves to be a bit overweight seem pretty average to me. I will admit though that I am put off by serious obesity.

I think the important thing is being happy and confident with yourself. Who gives a hoot what others think. As long as you as a person are content with where you are with your body weight then that is what matters.

For me, i like a steak not a hot dog. Also for me appearance matters to a degree because honestly i do have to be attracted to someone if there is to be more than friends. A little over weight is not a critcal factor though..........Ken can keep his barbie girl's.

Reubenesque! Good word, wikked. Myself, I prefer "well-rounded" -- speaks to both my body and my character! Hey, according to the stats, I'm the average size of the North American woman .. same size as Marilyn Monroe was, but she was of a different era, and tastes have changed, I suppose. I'll just take my mom's word for it .. for every size and shape of woman, God made a man who likes us that way!

I agree with you. Yes there are some men and women out there who do have issues with weight of people they date but to me its all about preferences. I don't want a skinny muscled man but I do want a man who is fit and active. I am not skinny either but I am curvy and havn't had a man complain yet. Well at least not to my face anyways. I used to be thinner but after having 2 kids it does change. I do try to keep fit and watch what I eat and I think that is whats most important.

And I think that in order to be able to love others you need to love yourself first and work on your self esteems and self confidence.

Weight, height, or whatever have nothing to do with who a person is. I am constantly shocked at how few people can see a person for who they are. Blind, can only see fat, when the most amazing person is right in front of them. How a fit person is respected and an overweight person is not. Fools. You don't love a person because they appeal to your eyes, you love a person because they are right for you. How will you find who is right for you, if you never stop looking with your eyes. to listen to your heart.

overwieght... underweight... just the right weight.. WHO CARES if it does not effect your long term or short term health..

There are only 2 times when a person should consider losing weight...

1- When YOU.. i repeat WHEN YOU are not happy with YOU and WANT TOO
2- When it is effecting your long or short term health

If someone else does not find you attractive because of TO HEAVY or TO THIN, then thats there personal preference and not a insult. If they say it in a rude way then it is a insult. Be happy with who you are.. if YOU are not happy change. Dont change for others.

NOW .. On a seperate note, I do worry about my friends who are overweight, but only for health reasons. Lets face facts, extra weight can cause some health issues. But, thats a concern because i love them as a friend and want them to be around as long as possible.
