venusenvy: Now Im really worried Leigh...The last thing any of us need is to get sucked into yet another war. We all have enough on our plates. None of our nations can afford it (with the exception of Arab nations) Our respective economies are still waaaaay to shaky. As well as the situation in Japan...not a good day on planet earth

I know V.....and I don't think it is going to come to that...Gaddafi is trouble in a big way...he is killing civilians by the thousands V........there are so many people at risk if he is not stopped...also.....the only real hold out on this is Russia...and that is not a definite......Gaddafi will not be able to continue when faced with a United front.....what do you think will happen to the economy if this continues?.....We are in a situation now that requires action........there is really no choice V...the situation in Libya is not the same as what happened in Egypt....the world cannot turn a blind eye....think of the implications.....hug bouquet

Oooooor maaaaaaaybe he took a step back to apply reasoned balanced judgement. Or maybe he was waiting for the diplomatic reports from Hilary and Company. Or Maybe He understands fools rush in. Or maybe we has the weight of dragging his nation into another war on his shoulders roll eyes

I see the horror as well and it breaks my heart. But why war? we have the technologies, assasins etc to take the madman out...Just take him and his regime OUT...Not become embroiled in yet another middle eastern war. They are destroying the economy of the free world. Is it too much to ask for oil rich nations in the center of this to stand up and own thier chit? Why O why do we have to spend our tax dollars on this? My heart breaks for the innocent over there. And is full of fear for where this will lead us crying

Here's something I just read on the news.

“UNITED NATIONS – Draft resolution on which the United Nations Security Council must decide this Thursday evening excludes a "force of occupation" in Libya. The text, which Reuters obtained a copy, allows the establishment of an exclusion zone in the Libyan sky and "all necessary measures to protect civilians and populated areas of civilians threatened with attack, including Benghazi - city to the East of Libya in the hands of the rebellion - excluding an occupying force". It also allows for the Arab countries, like other States, to take measures in cooperation with the United Nations to protect the Libyan civilian population.
France, whose Foreign Minister Alain Juppe went to New York, has declared he is persuaded to get the green light from the Security Council for a military intervention which would be launched a few hours after the vote in New York.”

V, I have to say, I agree. I am fully against any U.S. involvement. They minute we do ANYTHING militarily, we are dead dogs. We'll have more homegrown terrorist than the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, and any body else can shake a stick at. We do NOT need to be involved in another muslim country. The Arab states should take care of it. If they need supplies, no problem, medical aid, no problem, but I will write to every congressman in this country, if we step one man or one aircraft near that place!
And I do care about the people!

Im just getting tired of watching our resources being drained yet again over endless war in the middle east. It makes me think we are being played by them. If this is a plot to destroy the western world by draining our economies in thier endless conflict, than I would say they have well succeded. Cant they clean up thier own litterbox for a change?? sad flower

No doubt, their plan is working. And it just amazes me that people can't see it happening. And it's been in the works for many years.

The national debt in a nut shell courtesy of Treasury direct:

Date Dollar Amount
09/30/2010 13,561,623,030,891.79
09/30/2009 11,909,829,003,511.75
09/30/2008 10,024,724,896,912.49
09/30/2007 9,007,653,372,262.48
09/30/2006 8,506,973,899,215.23
09/30/2005 7,932,709,661,723.50
09/30/2004 7,379,052,696,330.32
09/30/2003 6,783,231,062,743.62
09/30/2002 6,228,235,965,597.16
09/30/2001 5,807,463,412,200.06
09/30/2000 5,674,178,209,886.86

Bush increased the national debt 4,350,546,687,025.37 (8 years)
Obama increased the national debt 3,536,898,133,979.30 (2+ years in office)

NOTE: I do understand that there's bleed over from one administration to the next so these are not exact but they're fairly close.
At the rate we're going right now we'll add another 3 trillion during the last 2 years of the Obama Administration. i.e. the debt will be at $16.5 trillion and he would have surpassed President Bush's debt by $2.5 trillion in half the time.

Like I said..."the esmasculated one" Obumbler has the backbone of a jellyfish, when it comes to leadership...which he abosolutely lacks!! Or he's obviously missing it, or is avoiding using it in any capacity, when he or his handlers can see fit that it may cause him harm politically. I mean, it is a sorry state of affairs that whenever it comes to a crisis, we can all count on him there always "dithering away" and being "tongue-tied". His way of "bungling" his way out of a crisis is by just planning his next round of golf, or next planning his next exotic vacation. When you go to vacation to Rio, or to whatever country suits your fancy ...do us all a favor...and just stay there!! We will not miss you! The crisis will still be there, but we understand it is your way of wiggling out of it and your responsibility for handling it!! WITHOUT EVER ACTING ON IT!! Obviously, this likable dunce thinks by just acting and talking Presidential, he will be all that!! WRONG!! He can continue to flap his lips, until hell freezes over, about anything...and read that telepromter impeccably!! But like they say...talk is cheap!! There's a saying...ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS....leaders from coutries around the world know this man lacks the backbone that makes a person a great Leader.

Besides all this...Obama has a "chip on his shoulders" the size of the National Debt, which as you know has increased the national debt to the tune of 3.5 TRILLION DOLLARS AND COUNTING, after only (2+ years in office). And he has the gall to say that AMERICANS have to "tighten our belts" and to sacrifice and spend less...all the while by coming up with his BUDGET adding another 1.7 Trillion for our Natioinal Debt! HYPOCRITE!!

I don't think we should be involved, but not for your reason. I don't think Libya is our our problem. I think it's a European problem more than ours. They can deal with it. It's on their doorstep.

My concern with your theory is that we would be totally paralysed to ever respond to any kind of terrorism attack on us.
There could be a time when we MUST strike back hard.

(obviously Libya isn't a terrorist threat to us at this time)

ooby_dooby: So sorry but that's incorrect. They reach "Terminal Velocity" at around 300 FPS. Still a stupid thing to do. I sure wouldn't enjoy having one land on my head.
"For further insight, we turn to Hatcher's Notebook (1962) by Major General Julian S. Hatcher, a U.S. Army ordnance expert. Hatcher described military tests with, among other things, a .30 caliber bullet weighing .021 pounds. Using a special rig, the testers shot the bullet straight into the air. It came down bottom (not point) first at what was later computed to be about 300 feet per second. "With the [.021 pound] bullet, this corresponds to an energy of 30 foot pounds," Hatcher wrote. "Previously, the army had decided that on the average an energy of 60 foot pounds is required to produce a disabling wound. Thus, service bullets returning from extreme heights cannot be considered lethal by this standard."

Let's put it this way. Where I worked, we put thousands of dollars in roof repairs because of dumbasses shooting guns in the city. They put a nice size hole in a roof. (when I posted that, I didn't know we would get hi-tech...but I'd say your right.)

I do think bullets could bounce off a few heads on here though. rolling on the floor laughing

Hey Ooby, do me a favor.

Go test that theory out for us and report back please~professor

kidatheart: So, what is it that you're trying to argue then? Or are you just trying to argue for the sake of arguement alone.

Freddy tried to blame the Navy, I refuted that claim, end of story. Then you roll in and attempt to twist things into some sort of conspiracy that the Bush administration was trying to dupe the American public by putting up a banner.

Sorry, you're the one that's confused.

Nice try though.

Not confused, I said;

As for Rumsfeld taking out any reference to Mission Accomplished I do believe that this shows that nobody in the Administration believed nor wished to have the public view the major combat operations as the end of the mission.

What this means is that from what we can see from the actions of the Bush Admin in this matter, nobody in the Administration believed nor wished to have the public view the major combat operations as the end of the mission.

Nothing confusing about that at all.

The Un Security Council voted to approve a no-fly zone extending over all of Libya about one hour ago.....
The resolution states that "all necessary means" can be used to enforce the no-fly zone...Flights to provide humanitarian aid, medicine, and evacs are exempt.....

The vote was 10 for and 0 against....There were 5 abstentions, they were China, Russia, Germany, India, and Brazil.....
