leigh2154: I have never once, on this thread or any other, said US should get involved in "COMBAT" in Libya...I have never said it because I do not believe we should....I do, however, think we should show our support, regardless of what Tom says about it being too late for a no fly zone...there was a time when it would not have been too late...we also did not get in there soon enough to suit me when it came to getting our own out......also we should have started moving our ship, that was three days away, at the on set of the uprising, not after Obama was pushed into action by his own administration, I am speaking of Hillary now.....and, you are being snide (insinuating)...it is obvious you have not read anything I have posted to the Libya threads........
ERrrr..ok...I really wasn't being snide uh oh I was just asking your opinion...you'll know if I'm being snide..sorry I asked your opinion..won't happen again...uh oh wow

tomcatwarne: Did the American people accept a lower standard of living, did they agree to tighten their belts. No they expected a pampered life as usual, of course Obama had to borrow, and pay interest on Bushes extravigance, he is trying to hold your whole shattered economy together, and maintain your greedy standard of living. If you want to pillory him for that go ahead, it's not my country.

If that were true Tom, he would have done a couple of things he promised in his campaign...he would have read the 1100 page bailout bill before signing and removed the pork or maybe not even signed and he would not have "pushed" through a health care law that is absolutely unsupportable in the long run, not to mention unconstitutional....... by the way, Obama signed the bailout 32 days after taking office....he probably did not have time to read it......and health care was pushed through because there was a blatant unbalance of power at the time...otherwise, it never would have passed...

Almost afraid to post...but here I go. I'm not sure if the formentioned incidents would show support. I know myself that when the uprising began I never thought it would amass to what it has. Perhaps he was lapse on the whole "no fly zone" but I am not entirely informed on that whole thing. And if I'm not mistaken..isn't there a similar uprising in Yemen? Why are we not concerned about that?? dunno

American forces are prob over streched with Afghanstian at the moment don't forget that now Iran and North Korea are starting to play up aswell why start one problem off by going into Lybia where were not wanted in the first place without solving problem out in Afghanistan first.

I think i saw it on the new where in fairness the Lybians were asked did they wanted Military help and declined the French offerd Aircraft support and said they no all they wanted was medical help.

If America and other world powers decide to get involve they will be a massive surge in Terror attacks and the ranks of the Al Qaeda will re fill like when America and her Allies sent troops into Saudi in the early 90s.We have to learn from the mistakes that were made in the past.

He seems to be spending more time playing golf than being in his office. I can't even remember a president that has taken more time off than this clown

Yes,...Egypt...Libya...Yemen...DOMINO EFFECT.....wonder why it has escalated (Libya)...ask yourself these kind of questions before you excuse this President.....the support , the kind of support I and many others here have been talking about for weeks now may have stopped the madness I don't know and neither do you...doesn't anyone practice proactive approach anymore....and irregardless, at age 62, and seeing my share of administrations, this one is a travesty.......

Here's part of a speech that I just read and was made by Hilary Clinton while on a recent visit to Tunisia. It sounds like there’s a lot to take into consideration before creating a no fly zone over Libya and talks are presently ongoing at the UN which seems to be the appropriate step to take.
But I must admit that I personally hope The UN accelerates their pace so something can be done ASAP to help those people get rid of this Dictator, his family and close collaborators.

Clinton: UN no-fly zone requires bombing Libya (Yahoo News)

“ TUNIS, Tunisia – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Thursday that a U.N. no-fly zone over Libya would require bombing targets inside the country to reduce the threat posed by Moammar Gadhafi's forces.
Her assessment made clear the risk of possible military intervention as world powers consider broader steps to protect civilians and pressure the Libyan leader.
"A no-fly zone requires certain actions taken to protect the planes and the pilots, including bombing targets like the Libyan defense systems," Clinton said as she neared the end of a Middle East trip dominated by worries about Libya, where a rebel offensive is apparently flagging.
Clinton said discussions are going beyond specific actions toward broader authorization so countries can enforce any U.N. measures. No ground intervention is being considered, she said.
Visiting Tunisia for the first time since protesters toppled their long-time autocratic ruler, Clinton spoke about the bloodshed in neighboring Libya and cited the U.N. negotiations in New York “

This is something that I have reported before about Libya. I have 4 email addresses in USA, London, Australia and Russia.

Just before Russia deleted my account, I received an email from a woman in Russia. She said that Russia will fight the USA and allies if a no fly zone is permitted over Libya and the UN.

This was very brave from this woman in Russia to speak out.
