Muammar Gaddafi has made a short statement via telephone to Libyan state television, saying that these air strikes will cause another "crusade" to be launched, and that the Mediterranean and North Africa have become a battleground. He also said that the arms depots of Libya should be opened to citizens so that they can defend themselves.
Following air raids by international forces on its territory, Libya on Saturday said it considers the UN security council resolution on a ceasefire by its forces no longer valid.

Good morning all! Mixed weather here with a nice blue sky towards the east but dark clouds filling the sky from the west and even some thunder just now!
As expected more raids occured at night with US B2 stealth bombers going into action and reportedly dropping around 40 bombs on "a major Libyan airfield"
In the same statement Gaddafi released to Libyan media yesterday, he also declared that the country will suspend co-operation with Europe in the fight against illegal immigration.
This agreement by which Libya had started to block its coastline to illegal immigrant departures is expected to hit Malta and Italy hard. Prior to this agreement Malta was facing an influx of thousands of such immigrants on a regular basis.
However some of the immigrants themselves and Libyans on the island commented that in a post-Gaddafi democratic Libya, there would be much less reason to escape the country for a better futute in Europe.
In what has been called "Operation Odyssey Dawn", the mixed nations currently including France, Britian, Italy, Canada and the United States (but already being joing by various others) have already initiated actions against the Libyan regime. The operation is currently being led by the United States during this initial stage but expected to be passed on to other nations in the coming phases.
The US operational command is under General Carter Hamm while fleet command is under Admiral Sam Locklear.
The tactical execution is being run out of the USS Mount Whitney, where commanding officers from the various particpating nations are present.
Not all attacks howver are originating from the mixed nation fleet (will give fleet details later), but both French and British warplanes left land-based bases in their own country of origin with the latter requiring in-flight refuelling. However a British sub in the above fleet fired a substantial number of the over 100 tomahawk missiles before attributed solely to US warships.
Media have reported a number of vessels from various countries participating in attacks on Libya. However numbers and actual vessels are never clear.
I am listing here the vessels I can CONFIRM are in the area and possibly carrying out attacks:
United States: USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) Blue Ridge class command ship 6th Fleet USS Ponce (LPD-15) Austin-class amphibious transport dockUSS Kearsarge (LHD-3) Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Barry (DDG-52) Arleigh Burke-class guided missile Destroyer USS Stout (DDG-55) Arleigh Burke-class guided missile Destroyer USS Mason (DDG-87) Arleigh Burke-class guided missile Destroyer USS Providence (SSN-719) Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered submarine 2 Further unidentified Submarines
Great Britian: HMS Westminster (F237) Type 23 Frigate 1 unidentified Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarine -others- HMS Cumberland (F85) Broadsword-class Type 22 Frigate (left the region and is near Cagliari, Italy) HMS York (D98) Type 42 Destroyer (left the mediterranean and is now in Madiera)
Italy: MM Andrea Doria (D553) 'Linea Orrizonte' Type, anti-aircraft Frigate MM Fenice (F 557) Minerva Class Corvette MM Giuseppe Garibaldi (D551) Aircraft Carrier (currently on its way) possibly other unidentified vessels
Gaddafi has spoken on Libyan state TV this morning in a voice-only speech. He is reported to have said, "We will not allow the enemies to come defeat us, we have already defeated the Italians", refering to the gaining of the country's independence from the ex-colonial power.

jvaski: Isn't it great to see the USA leading yet another military intervention on yet another country that has not attacked us ?

LOL...Qdaffi Coup d'etat a from Libyan King Idris...to get power of Libya in 1969.
10 t0 20% of all Libyans work in Qdaffi internal secret service.
He does not let English or French be taught in the school to keep western contact down.
Engaging in political conversation with a foreigner.....can result in a 3 year prison sentence.
Amentsy International has Qdaffi agents involved in 25 murders around the globe of anti Qdaffi persons.
In 2004 Qdaffi placed a 1m bounty on Ashur Shamis, Libyan/British journalist.
On the Mohammad the Prophet birthday in 1973...he delivered his 5 point address.... 1)suspend all laws and impliment Sharia 2)purge the country of "political sick" 3)create a people militia to protect teh revolution 4)Administrative revolution 5)Cultural revolution
Qdaffi opinion of HIV..is that it is a "peaceful virus" he once said...."if you are straight, you have nothing to fear from AIDS"
this is mainly because of the African AIDs pandemic that is being caused by multiple partners....and Muslims...have multiple partners.
Qdaffi has been paying as much $2500 per day for Chad Merc.....has been advertising for them in Nigeria newspapers and has a special Khamis Brigade....led by his son....who was trained in Russia. He also used two Generals from his tribe.... Sayed and Ahmed Qaddfi Eddam extensively in the militaries suppression operations.
Note the family name of the later. Just like Sadam Hussien in Iraq.
Italy reports 8 of its nationals captured aboard an oil-rig support vessel by armed gunmen. The vessel was in Tripoli harbour when armed gunmen took control of the vessel Saturday. the vessel is now reported to have left harbour with the gunmen presumably aboard.
