I would tell my b/f that that person was my friend long before he came along and I'm not giving up that friend.

i wouldnt have a girlfriend or boyfriend or anyone that close in my life with a need to control my other relationships.
sometimes they seem to not be that way and then later are exposed
i am diplomatic but let me tell you
from experience
those friends and kids are still in my life today
whereas aforementioned gfs/bfs are long gone
the people in my life were just a handy excuse for them
i cannot think of a situation wherein i would issue any such ultimatum- your relationships arent all my business unless they affect me directly or my safety or the sanctity of my home
i know how to have boundaries or request them from you
no need for ultimatums

It's important what the reason is.
My guess is, in a situation like that, the person who wants the other one to dump the best friend is probably jealous of the time he/she is giving to the best friend

I would put my partner first.He is more important then anyone.My boyfriend is very fair and levelheaded so if he hated someone,and I can't think of anyone he hates,I would have to believe there is a very good reason.
