only a teeny tiny percentage of CS members come into forums but

I would take it mean they drink a lot and smoke occasionally or maybe they smoke pot on occasion

I drink socially = in company, rarely when Im alone.
Smokes regularly = 30 a day.

im not sure i want to absolutely exclude people but i dont wanna ask em outright to make a list like venusinsilk just offered
and i hate waitin around to 'see' cuz so often they were minimizing the situation with their choice from the list anyway

To me it means they drink every day. To me thats a lot. Im thinking they smoke on occasion not every day. At least thats how it reads to me

It means something different to each person.
Drinks regularly could mean all day every day, it could mean a glass of red wine with the evening meal, it could mean a single pint every Friday night after work.
Smoking socially can be people who only smoke when they go out for a drink, smoking the occassional spliff, it could be a euphamism for not being so attached to nicotine that they'd be prepared to sacrifice a potential relationship for it.
You ain't gonna know unless you ask and even then you might not get an entirely truthful answer.

I just ignore those two thing and wait until I am in stage one, emailing to someone interesting...sometimes people lie because of privacy issues......if someone is really interested, they will come clean about vices.....one would think so anyway....

But someone who drinks a small glass of wine every day drinks the same as someone who drinks a bottle of wine on a Friday night, but maybe more sensibly.
Both are regular, both drink the same amount.

of course this strategy is the only viable alternativebut i thot it might make interesting conversation and i always find it interesting to learn what 'common' terms mean to a variety of folks
