I3estman4u: I see your point and, yes, America isn't the only country to be brutal in their dealings with other countries and their people. And I hope you know I wasn't directing anything towards you personally.

"The colonization of Texas as a Mexican state brought Anglos westward from the United States and Mexicans northward"

Perhaps you'd care to reread some basic American ,(or Mexican) history books on the subject of Texas. Texas was already a State in the Republic of Mexico which Mexico inherited as part of the former Spanish territory upon independence from Spain. It was also already settled by Spanish, Mexican and various indigenous natives, though sparsely. Mexico opened their state to settlers from the US and elsewhere. It was not an independent, nor free State as you imply by your wording. It reads as if Texas existed prior to Mexico, which it certainly did not.

After winning the "Texas Revolution", a war fought between Mexico and Texas from October 1835 - April1836, Texas became formally recognized by the US, Great Britain, France, and other countries as the Republic of Texas i.e. one star on the flag, "The Lone Star State".....Mexico, however, did not recognize Texas as a republic and turmoil continued. On December 29, 1845 Texas was annexed to the United States, becoming the 28th state in the Union. This event ultimately lead to the Mexican-American war....
