leigh2154: Hi Bo!!...Don't know when you are taking the exam, but much luck, congrats in advance, and welcome my fellow American!!
Leigh, Bodecia is an old timer CS peep and that's why you see me hugging and mauling the hell out of her. She's a smart cookie and I'm sure she'll pass the test...
leonardo5: I prefer to call myself 'a citizen of the world'
Very true, and I said in an earlier post, World Peace, etc is a lovely idea. Unfortunately, I doubt it will ever happen, so therefore although we all care deeply about the state of the whole planet, we can still take pride in our country's achievements, dont you think?
Bodecia: What exactly is a "Citizen of the World", anyway?
Does it mean that you have no true allegience to any one country? Your own?
That would be quite sad, I think.
Yes, you are right. I have no allegience at all toward my own country. Sad? maybe. But you should know the kind of disasters that have happened in Argentina. That is the reason I think so.

I vouch you still support Argentina in the World Cup, though.

Haha...no, I didn't even support the national team in last World Cup. But it was this time for different reason: I did not like Maradona (the national team coach). He is an arrogant guy.

jvaski: How can one be truly patriotic to a country that is so divided as the US ?
There is certainly good things about the US than bad and, makes it unique in so many ways.
To me, patriotism is being not just proud of your country but very proud of your country and where it has been and where it is going and who it is composed of.
Has nothing to do with right or wrong in whatever issues are in front of her during the day and, one can be patriotic without even accounting for any or all political issues.
If you love your country and are proud of her, believe she is unique and like to tell people you are from that country then you are patriotic. If you don't give a hoot, run her down all the time witout waving the good points and only are proud to be from there if and when certain conditions are met and then change your mind when those conditions inevitably change, then I would say you are not very patriotic.
drbombay: TY-I think you are off the mark on some things but nevertheless we are all(good people with morals) impacted by events of this world. I will say for you & I even with our backgrounds would be reluctant to live in some other countries.
Probably yes Thou when it comes to Europe, I wouldn't mind living in Ireland, Britain, France, Austria, Germany - Bavaria, Sweden or Norway. Even Slovakia, and Poland would be nice. But over seas - - - - not really

Can we throw out nearly half the people - and then be patriotic 100% ?
gleneagle: Ive met people in life who would regard themselves as Patriotic. But the older I get I see it means different things to different people. What does it mean to you and how has that belief impacted on your life? Your thoughts!!
If it means killing, maiming, torturing.. it means nothing
