well get used to them people, they are the popular trend, and traditional 4wd manufacturers like jeep, are currently designing a new range of 2wd suv type family wagons, that will be the same dimensions as 4x4's but cheaper because they dont have the extra mechanical bits like transfer cases and front diffs. and honestly when there is a need for mum to transport a family , what are the options? people movers, tarago's etc, or 4x4's. either way they are large cumbersome vehicles in a cbd or shopping precinct environment, but i cant see it being very easy to get two or three kids under 5 and a family worth of weekly groceries into a yaris. JMHO

I don't think they should be banned. There are many vechiles that are large like 4x4s and I have thought about getting a 4x4 many times. My poor car has been many a place it maybe shouldn't. I think that you would still have the troubles you have now even if they weren't in the CBD. JMO
