Maybe CS is a stage for some, but most I've met and/or been in contact with from here are real, genuine, honest people who are quite open and unafraid to show their true selves.
Or do you mean in everyday life

life is too short to beat around the bush at my age 
I sometime think we live in a pretentious society..At work and in life. I also find men are the worst at opening up..Its good for men to talk openly. I have helped a few through break ups..

Yeah men can tend to hide their emotions so it's good that they feel comfortable talking to someone like yourself

but here in cyberspace - you can be yourself - it's like going to a fancy dress ball and letting your hair down. ... In real life I think we suppress who we really are - but here you can let go - and people do actually accept or reject you based on how you conduct yourself in cyberspace....

being polite for politeness sake - and I actually find it more rude - because of the pretentious and I can't think of the other word starts with 'p' - why bother asking if you really don't meant it...

Goldman000: Most people can tell if someone is genuine...I guess it's just a trust thing.
I was reading a link the other day posted by Conrad about honesty… it seems both honesty and dishonesty are selfish acts.

HATE shaking hands - prefer the Asian way of bowing or putting hands together and bowing gently - lovely way to acknowledge and no touching involved.

Here is my opinion of you (wanted or not )
A right little tearaway when young! learnt lifes lessons the hard way and now a much wiser and sensitive personality" the downside is the confidence you had in your abilities (and there Were a few)has just about gone.
Sweetheart you are a good guy to know
so do what you have to do like yourself again! until then you cannot move on with your life.And I promise you there is a wonderful lady out there just for you...but you have to be brave and confident enough grab her as she wanders by.
As i've said before i believe our being is actually moving energy...proposing we can promise someone else you'll see your kids again or meet miss-right is pretty loose thinking.
Best as i can fathom its all dependent on our individual and collective karma, honesty is of course the only path to follow no matter how hard it might seem, to my mind its only way forward.
Live in the here and now as that's what really is
