Okay....for anyone new on here please take note of the following scammer "red flags":

1. "I am a God-fearing man" - an expression that is rarely used in the U.S.

2. "Hope to hear from you soonest" - Say what?

3. "I don't mean to bother you with this email" - why would it bother me? I'm on here to meet people!

AND MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE:

"Hello Pretty" - Last time I checked, "pretty" was an adjective that needs to describe a noun.

P.S. For those of you who think I'm tipping off the scammers as to what NOT to say, you need not worry because 1) They don't read messages on the forums; and 2) Luckily for us, English is such a hard language to learn that even if they corrected the above mistakes we would still be able to spot them!

I state I am looking for a man close to home and I only get ones from New York, New York; California, Colorado or overseas... yeah right. They do not read profiles at all. I like the ones who said "I have one kid and I love him very much, he is all I got" or something to that effect - then I am sure...! lol

Another thing -putting email or Yahoo addys in the first email!!

LOL! And mine are all between 28 to 31 who just loved my profile and all appear to be Playboy playmates in appearance, and have a "so good command of English so to be write me soon" style.

Some of the scammers DO read the forums!!!

When you've been here a long long time you notice they're cleaning up some of the expressions that keep getting pointed out ...

Just my opinion...

Perhaps, but I doubt many actually read the forums, it´s too time consuming. I agree that certain expressions are "cleaned up", but they come from reading profiles mostly, in my opinion anyway.

mumbling Too much work. Crisis brings desperation, desperation brings the realisation that the only jobs to be found require a good level of English, whether here or abroad.

Sorry for the brief hijack OP.

I think that the God fearing man depends on where you are in the US. I know you say that it's rare, but you are more likely to hear it in the south. Yes, it's not a frequent thing, but I wouldn't say it's rare. Of course, I'm in the southeast so, I'm used to hearing it on occassion.

I still think my system of finding out if somebody actually read my profile is to put a strange word in it towards the end and say if you email me be sure to put this word in the subject line. So far I've gotten 1 email with the secret word out of about 30 and the majority said they were awestruck by my profile. laugh

All I could think of was Heinlein and:

"Life is short.
But the years are long.
Not while the evil days come not."

I think there are a lot of dating sites that "steal" listings from other sites CS included but all they see is your pic and screenname which goes a long way to explain why they don't read profiles, it's because they can't see your profile.
