I have been a bit depressed lately , my life seems as though nothing has any meaning , and one day seems to drag into another day , even the weekends arent something worth looking forward to anymore , seems all my friends are in couples , or at least getting out and getting a bit , male and female , and i am the only one that seems to be going nowhere , but 2 days ago , i realised that im actually doing alot better than most , if not all of them. I realised, that , i am a single parent , i work a full time job , im on my way to owning my own home , i get zero help from anyone , including family , and i tend to help others out , and 99% of the time ask for nothing in return. A good friend of mine owns his own home , married with 2 kids , is quite successful , and i have to admit , i have been envious of him. But then i realised , that he didnt do it alone , his parents and his sister have helped him out pretty much the whole time ( even now!! ) , and im still plugging along by myself with no help.
Now i realise he ( and most of my friends ) have happy relationships , kids , close family etc , and i pretty much have none of that , but thats how i have chosen to live my life( not from lack of trying to have a healthy relationship mind you ).
I dont know if this outlook i now have is a good thing or not , but i do feel somewhat better knowing that i have got as far as i am now by myself ( i do have to shoutout to my ex who helped find the place i bought and currently reside in ) , even with no help ( family payments etc ) from the government.

Have you found there is certain things in your life that sparks a thought in your head , that you are actually better off than alot of other people and makes you feel "better" or "above" said friends? , kinda like what i have come to learn over the past few days?

Sorry for rambling , im actually feeling lonely tonight , but still good knowing what i now know.

Lok out.

Lok, I think as singles we do a hell of a lot of soul-searching and it's only natural to look around and think we see shiny happy people all over the place. We compare our lives to theirs when really ours are so very different ..

I totally understand what you say about doing it all on your own and that is something to be extremely proud of hug

It's a tough world out there for singles and it's no wonder many of us are prone to depression and that feeling of getting nowhere.

But you have achieved so much, for yourself and your family, and that is amazing in itself .. you're a young man and there's so much more to come, keep on truckin lol cheers

You will be ok look at what you have achieved and we all do have to take a look at our life and realize just how fortunate we are compared to some folks comfort hug It's also ok to feel down we are only human. You should not need to look around to feel good about yourself or by comparison .. Feeling good is from within, so if you are not feeling as good as you should, then mate take some advise and see your doctor ..

Depression is a mongrel thing and it can sneak up on anyone at anytime ..

Feeling lonely is pretty much the normal its the feeling alone that you need to watch out for ... always wanting to be on your own, withdrawing from life and friends, thats a key indicator something is amiss ...

Hope you continue to appreciate where you are in life and hopefully life will be good to you .... cool

teddybear I am in a simular situation, kids, morgage, workin ya butt off, You should be proud of yourself, your kids will always remember who struggled for them, weather it taking them to a sports game or keeping a roof over their head. Your time will come, for you, with someone special,(it will come). When i felt this way, i used to have a little chat to myself and think about the future. It is a struggle but you will get there.

Morning Kristia you are right it does pay off for you I had all that morgage, raising the kids taking them to sports, beach, horse events, etc! the list is endless. I still work hard because I want to. But our kids "priceless" mine are awesome they are grown up and left home but they are there for me now. They say they worry cause I work too hard and if I want to stop work they will take care of me, or do I want to come live with them. uh oh Ain't that old yet "phew" hehe! but I'm their mum and I am lucky to have such great kids. hug

Hi there, i reackon i'd go nuts if i didn't work and it keeps your spirits up,sometimes work is a social out,out of the house, keep your sanity. Yes and my kids and like all are growing up so fast. Even though they may drive you nuts sometimes, you'd never be without them.teddybear
