single4ever: I think both can be but I think its more than just a midlife crisis. As for people wanting someone younger; I suspect a younger person would be easier to control. After all; most if not all relationships are about control which is why I am not in one. I have no wish to control or be controlled. Also, as one poster says; we getting tired of the compromising. Everything seems to be a debate or arguement; or even blackmail so a person can get what they want out of you. I really hate when someone says you would do this if you loved me. My response was if you loved me; you wouldn't ask me to do this. Relationships are too demanding, too commanding, and too restricting for one to even enjoy life anymore.
LOUD and Clear, This is why I am not so interested in most Older Women!

I agree that I have not had any success with relationships but my reason to give up isn't my hurt feelings; its just a logical choice. I am at the age that I am content with my life and see no reason to change things. I have never believed in the theory that there is someone for everyone. Not all of us were meant to be coupled up. I do enjoy the company of my friends and family so not quite a hermit. I find my life hectic and at times stressful; so the last thing I need is someone to make things even more stressful in my life. No matter how much someone says the love you; they can still get on your nerves.

Some men because they are without women.
Ask yourself why some women prefer younger men. Men would maybe think its for looks because men are generally more visual.
Women will say its because the power balance is more equal and equality is the ultimate goal in a truly loving relationship.
Instead of whinging, analyse that which women seek and develop those traits, if you truly want to give.
Giving on your own terms is not giving, its taking.

Now that we know what we want it is not that it is harder it`s just what keeps showing up is not what we want our taste changes we have learned more and won`t take what we took maybe 10 or 15 years ago time has become a precious thing to us "older" one`s so we keep waiting and maybe we will find our hearts desire

OK, I'm going to get a little personal, so don't be mad. You asked,here's MY answer.
If I take you for example... Would I date you ? NO... Why ?
Why would I date a smoker? Smokers are imponets by age 60,non smoking men are capable to have children at 80,and that's a proven fact (not that I want children)
So I would assume men who are older know that,clearly you don't.
Second,you ride bike... are you still twenty ? Would you expect a 46 y.o. woman in clear mind to get on that thing with you ? NO WAY !
So, is it midlife kind of stuff or never grew up ?
Act like a 53,and you will meet a nice woman,who loves romanse,movie,theater,books........
