EagleWoman: Respect is earned? In what way?
Do you mean someone has to "prove" they are worthy of your respect? What a scary thought!

Yes I have made coffee or breakfast every morning ... AND?

No I've never had a man that knows ALL about me ... that would mean spending ALL of my present talking a bout my past ... I'd much rather live in the present being who I AM now rather than talking about what made me who I am.

A man that pays attention to every little detail ... another scary thought!! In my opinion it doesn't sound like being spoiled. It sounds like being smothered. I like to be able to breathe freely thanks.

Gotta agree with you. Any bloke who wants to know everything and thinks he does sets all sorts of alarms ringing....Control freaks work this way,and it is really smothering. As for paying attention to every detailrolling on the floor laughing few men ever do so.

Remembering most is pretty fair for us mere ordinary mortals.grin cheers

jovisst: The supermarket for old geezers are Asia and east Europe I'm afraid.
Western women want younger men, but for the sake of face saving they usually puts one or two years older for preferably man.

I want a guy within a certain age range...not a guy that is old enough to be my dad. Unfortunately, it seems that many guys that are within my age range of interest want women that are in their 20s.

jac379: Point taken.

This is from 10 random, women's profiles who are currently online and from different parts of the world:

AGE 50 SEEKING AGE 45-57 -5/+7

AGE 30 SEEKING AGE 30-40 +10

AGE 49 SEEKING AGE 40-50 -9/+1

AGE 52 SEEKING AGE 48-58 -4/+6

AGE 55 SEEKING AGE 47-62 +/-7

AGE 34 SEEKING AGE 34-45 +11

AGE 38 SEEKING AGE 36-40 +/-2

AGE 35 SEEKING AGE 34-40 -1/+5

AGE 20 SEEKING AGE 18-45 -2/+25

AGE 32 SEEKING AGE 32-40 +8

From this admitedly small and statistically insignificant sample, the evidence would suggest that your comment to DemonFairy claiming she's a rarity for looking +/-10 years either side of her own age and not for a man much younger man is a false perception.

There have been many threads like this and I recall someone providing a link to reasearch that suggests, contrary to you protestations, that women tend to prefer men much nearer their own age and its men who are more inclined to go beyond their generation in terms of partners.

So, what's this all about?

I'm going to put forward the hypothesis that old codgers whinging about women's preferences (basing those ideas on inaccurate stereotypes) need to stop complaining, stop blaming women and sort themselves out, if they truly want a happy, healthy relationship.

Ne nah ne nah ne nah

I just made a comment about wanting a man closer to my age. I don't really want a guy that is more than 10 or 11 yrs older and perhaps no less than 2 to 3 years younger. It seems like most guys in their 30s want women in their 20s and men in their mid- to late-40s and older want to be with women my age. I don't mind being friends with guys that are that much older than me, but I don't want to be romantically involved with a guy that is my dad's age. I'd be concerned about the potential health issues. I would rather age with my man (the one that I marry) instead of having to care for an aging partner. Then when he dies, I may feel too old to get back out there again. If that makes sense.

Age is no garanty that a man or woman is going to be healthy or unhealthy after the relationship starts.

I have a 71 year old friend who is more mobile and agile and youthful than his wife who is a fair few years younger and another friend who married a strapping young healthy builder then their lives got turned upside down when he injured his back and was incapacitated as a result.
