daggyone: With the amount of tv's and pc's ending up on the nature strip for council hard rubbish collection, you'd think we could send them over to 3rd world countries where these items would be highly appreciated

Cost of freight might be prohibitive confused

you'd think they could negotiate a cheap back load in the empty containers all going back to these countries to be filled with cheap asian goodies.

Newlife08: There is a council dump near me that has a recycling shop where you can drop stuff off or buy stuff from. A friend's son has put together many a computer with bits and pieces from there. Should be more?

I have spent some time going thru my wardrobe this weekend and got about 6 bags to go to the op shop, books, shoes, bags as well.

Feels great. How many pairs of shoes is too many? I have errrrm ..... a few.

Sounds like you have been busy... NewLife..cheering Dont throw out your shoes... seems such a waste when your feet finally make friends with them...

grin

serene56: Are you one

I think I might be but maybe more sentimental grin

When I packed up all my household in NZ and put it in storage,

I couldnt part with or sell my boys, books, collections of all kinds (boxes of mcdonald collector toys, tonka toys etc

I boxed everything of theirs and keeping it all for one day when they have children grin

I couldn't part with my wardrobes of clothes and packed them all away to laugh

Well I kept everything to fully furnish a house but since i am not going back to live, I have said to my sons, it's all theirs apart from sentimental boxes which they must look after for me.

Sometimes in life, we think our possessions are our lives but really they are just what was part of lives

and it makes me happpy to set them up then sell what was ours wine

The trick is as soon as you buy something new to then dispose of the older item you are replacing it with at the opp shop, wheelie bin or tip.

I have a mantra which goes 'If it's not useful or beautiful, get rid of it' professor
