gee where to start!

reading books
playing with dolls
playing cowboys and indians with my brothers
playing cricket or footy with my brothers, depended on the season!
droving animals to paddocks, or feeding them in the long paddock
doing the vegie garden, it was our job to thin the carrots, which we did with a bucket of water, pull the thinning out, wash them and eat em.
playing board games and cards games with mum and family

so much more!

Well there was not mush I didn’t do! The youngest of five,
We played cricket on the street,
We played football when we could
We rode our bikes until sunset
We swam down the river all summer
We played cards and monopoly
As kids we totally rocked, it’s a pity our parents hated each other?

But that’s the life I was dealt,
professor doh cheers

Yep before I could go to school I got to go to work with my Mum! Each day, not that I can complain as she worked at the airport and I got to play with the swans,

Gee I have lived such a privilege life! Just like I am living now!

Compared to any third world country, living in Australia is just like getting kicked in the nuts each day!
professor doh

Why do you have to be so aggressive in your replys, every time I put up a comment you jump on me, at least you had a mum to go to work with, and at least your mum had a job,so yes I would say you were some what privileged, and if you think you have it hard now then change things so it is better for you.

we werent rich in money, but we were in love

Our cricket bats were generally palings of the 60 year old back fence, our bows and arrows and guns for cowboys and indians were made from the same sort of material.

Yes I had dolls, not because I asked for them, but because Mum sacrificed what she could so she could buy me them. Mum used to make the dolls clothes out of the offcuts from our clothes.

Mud cakes was easy.. you just waited until it rained!

A lot of our activities were also helping Mum and Dad either with the farm and animals or their small businesses. It also helped growing up in a small rural community

Played 500, Canasta, made mud pies, built tree houses, rope swings to jump off into the dam, crawled down into wombat holes, cooled off in the creek, collected scorpions and bull ants in jars, made planes out of plastic real estate signs, made and rode billy carts down a steep hill.

I myself grew up in a small country town it was great everybody new everybody and looked out for each other.we used to walk for miles over all the hills, walk up to the big dam to go swimming, and go skating in the slurry pits from the mine,if we new then that it was poisonous we would have worn shoes.lol we had caves that we would explore.we use to have a ball every weekend.

Blizzard's experience would be very similar to many kids today where both parents work and the kids are locked up in detention centres until it's nearly time to put them to bed, then their parents collect them and that's the end of the day. What a life! The smarter we become, the dumber our lives seem to be. We should be pushing for more long weekends where you can experience time with your kids camping and caravaning this great big country of ours. Instead we are forced involuntarily to conform to the dual income high mortgage payments credit squeeze society where holidays have been traded off for higher pay rates at the expense of our kids time with us.

Hi dags,
Every one has a choice to be happy, life is there for the taking, what you do with it is your choice, you don't have to have a Hugh mortgage, the best car,a job that takes you from your family for hours every day, there are choices in every thing we do,and only yourself can make one self happy,no one ealse holds a gun to your head and forces you to do any thing. Glad to see you and your wife are very happy.

I dont have any fond memories of my father he was always out drinking, playing tennis and cheating on my mother. But mum on the other hand, weekends spent cooking together, dogshows and when l use to help her at work for pocket money. My favorite memories are of riding the ponies out in the open paddocks, leaning into thier necks going flat chatt with the wind blowing through thier glorious manes...now they were the days daydream

Many kids don't get a choice and that is more to the point. They are just locked away in these detention facilities called creche's and child care centres while mummy is at work and daddy is away up at the mines for 4 weeks. Then you have the kids in single parent families who are pulled from pillar to post trying to please each parent and trying to say the right thing so as not to upset the other parent, while also going without the other parent for months on end because on party is being a pig.
