I have been fortunate that I wasn't ask for money yet... but 1 week after I started talking with one from here he fell in love with me. He never called, only text and emails. He claimed he was traveling and couldn't call... if that was the case, how is it he was able to text me? Wouldn't you think it was the same cost? Anyway, he sent me pictures of different guys, not of him. He didn't realize the eyes were different.
I can't figure out why people think they need to play games on here and pretend to be someone they aren't. What does it prove? There are honest people trying to find someone they can spend time with.. the problem is finding them. One big tip off of a phony person is directly asking to write away from this site on Yahoo and messenger. I have also found most are engineers, a widow and kids at home... I am not giving up... just wish it were different.

I have observed only a handful of success stories after many years of membership here, albeit with long breaks from time to time, but many false starters which often end acrimoniously on the forums sadly.

I will always maintain that offline far outweighs online in finding long term relationships, if that is the goal, but kudos to the few who have been successful. handshake

The forums are clearly for folk who like chatting, debating and harmless flirting. Nothing wrong with that at all.

But if you love, you wouldn't mind those people? Love is an internal. Is there such a thing in you? grin

had several virtual relationship in the past, but I would never give 100% before we meet in real and before he proves his 100% worthiness. Frankly said. I only make a strict selection and I never beg anyone that doesn't fit into my criteria to be my wasters...

Dear Serenity,

You will always be bombarded with the negative on any site where people are self-absorbed and fail to look beyond the end of their nose at what potential partners there are everywhere in the world.

I personally could have been in about 4 or so relationships with women that I met here. My fiance is one of the most beautiful women that I have ever met - on the inside as well as on the outside.

You must be wise with any form of dating, online or in person. Personally, one can never really have an online relationship. It is a myth. One only has real, in person relationships. Yes there are those that will fantasise that they are in a relationship, and there will be be the mass negative types that flood the cyberspace with there self-focused, self-pity about how they can't find a mate, or all the contacts are scammers, or they all suck and aren't for them..... bla bla bla.

Serenity, you make your own destiny. You must be prepared to look at yourself in the mirror and put in effort to find your partner. You must be prepared to give people a go. You must be prepared to sift through the rubble to find your nugget of gold.

They are out there and many people are finding their love and their life partners here, and elsewhere.

So take heart chick. Don't let the negative soothsayers sway your resolve. Just be wise and use the tools that are available to you. Be prepared to give a little and take a little.

It didn't take me very long to find a lot of friends here. And not much time after this to find my love and my fiance.

So I encourage you, be wise, but also be positive. It can happen for you, if you wisely seek it with resolve and with an honest heart that is open to who you actually are, and accepting of who other people are as well. With that dose of wisdom, of course.

handshake

Oh Merri, I feel saddened to hear that this has happened for you. I hope that you are okay. Remember that with any separation, there is a grief process that will occur.

Take care and look forward.

I find walks along the beach very therapeutic.

Love is something that does exist, but it has been so commonly misused, for manipulative reasons, that the meaning of the word love, and how to show it has been all but smashed.
All to often, people seem to think "I love you" is just a phrase of endearment, and toss it around like a hot cupcake...
From my experience, and watching the relationships of people I know, many seem oblivious to the fact of love being an action...not simply meaningless chatter.
I believe love is something you show by action.
