Modern psychology blames these little chemicals. As in chemical imbalance. Kind of like God made a mistake in some of us.
These guys have figured out ways of messing with body chemistry and look at humans as chemical reactions with no minds of their own.
My personal view is,,,,, my little pet theory,,,, psychosis is the end result of lying to oneself. The more one lies to one self the more out of tough with reality one becomes. Most are delusional to some degree,, some totally out of tough.
There are good reasons why people delude themselves, not the least being religious influence.

Erm, I'm neurotic not psychotic. There is a difference. A psychotic believes that 2 + 2 = 5 and will not be convinced otherwise. A neurotic knows fine that 2 + 2 = 4 but he hates it and would give anything for it not to be true.

Psychosis (from the Greek ???? "psyche", for mind/soul, and -?s?? "-osis", for abnormal condition or derangement) refers to an abnormal condition of the mind, and is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state often described as involving a "loss of contact with reality". People suffering from psychosis are described as psychotic. Psychosis is given to the more severe forms of psychiatric disorder, during which hallucinations and delusions and impaired insight may occur.[

From the Greek???? Of course!!!! The vast majority of medical words are Greek.

I imagine its not easy to live with long term, or come to terms with.

I imagine it can be quite frightening and socially isolating.

I imagine the social stigma directed at those with psychoses adds to the difficulties.

I imagine medication might be difficult to get right, without side effects.

I imagine most people don't realise that one in ten of us will experience at least one brief psychotic episode in our life time.
