AgentAjax: I think there are around 170 specie wiped out everyday, that would be mostly insects, worms, few non vertebrates and small animals. 99% of these are non threatening to humans but something that is large enough and threatening enough we put up strong objections. Why is this so?

And yet they spend millions of dollars on saving the Pandas confused the one animal that is it died out nothing would change

epirb: Aus is a big tourist market , tourists being eaten while swimming on the same beaches that are being promoted is not a good look .
...and yet ironically, tourism goes up after a tragedy

Twodawgz: For sure a humans life is always greater than a shark, but you can't live in a risk free world i think,so learn to live with em jmo.
of course you are right, death amongst humans can have an affect on people for several years. As for animals usually one moans anywhere between few hours to few days.

Sharks don`t come to my home, so I don`t go to theirs, same for Croc`s and Alligators, yet I love `em, creatures that have evolved over millions of yrs to do what they do best. LEAVE THEM ALONE!
One thing is for sure, on this planet "EARTH" if it can wrecked, wiped out or stuffed or rooted, MANKIND will do it.
You know the little Johnie Upstart who only learnt to stand on his back legs 5 minutes ago......JMO.....

I don't understand this type of logic? Hasn't there been a legislation passed for all the swimming pools to be fenced with safety locks and don't we have life guards? It's about taking preventative measures to ensure the safety of individuals,of course some of that safety falls back on the individuals.

There were quite a few species that disappeared after the Jurrasic era.

Darwin was the one to advent "Survival of the fittest." Cockroaches, crocs & sharks still survive.

AgentAjax: Western Australia and South Australia are baiting and killing large sharks in the effort to make swimming and surfing more safer, while few of the other states like QLD are using shark nets.

What is your opinion on matter, considering more people die trying to stay healthy per year than from sharks.

I personally think it's a stupid idea to bait and kill any shark, just for the sake of making the waters safer. If you know that there is sharks in the water, then you take the risk when you go in their territory. If anyone wants to go for a swim, do it in a swimming pool if it makes you feel any safer. quite often I am ashamed of being a human. I'd make it illegal to kill sharks or any other creatures just so we can satisfy our greed for pleasure. very mad

Rather take chance at beach with sharks at least they would'nt be leaking dye into the pool.

AgentAjax: I've heard all sorts of arguments why sharks attack people and some of the popular ones are "there are less fish in the ocean for sharks to feed on" "sharks cannot tell the difference between humans and seals" "that's where they live and we should stay out of the water. example of few stupid ones

well fark me but nature has a way of balancing it self out, less food less sharks. Sharks have an acute smell and hearing, they can smell their prey from couple of K away. and all life shares this plant, and we are one specie that rules over the rest...fact the end of the argument.
