Merriweather: Ummm... hate to spoil your enthusiasm over a cubic zirconian, but watch them scratch up badly over six months.. and they look worse than a beach pebble... and definitely can tell between a diamond and a cubic zircon..

sorry...
I can tell the difference between the two, I just think that the CZ are prettier.

Hiya Merri

Hi backatcha unlaoised.. wave

Thank goodness you agree with me... CZ's are not so pretty after they have been worn for six months.. they scratch badly, and take on a yellow colour, and lose their facets... so there is no shine, no sparkle, and no definition.. but hey...

some people are OK with that.. I am not judging... heck I worked in a jewellery store for years... and sold them.. and have seen them come back looking shocking.. The saving grace.... is they are cheap ...as chips... grin

unlaoised: There's a cubic zirconia and then there's the real deal. I prefer the real thing. Maybe you could get her a really big Swarovski instead?

Good idea, do they do rentals?

There's nothing like the real thing, Merri. You're quite right, CZ's look dreadful after a while...a piece of weathered glass. No thanks, I'll rather have a half carat blue white any day of the week purple heart

Six months would be just long enough for me to tell her the truth about the ring and all the other dark secrets I've been keeping quiet about.

I'm just joshing, I know you can tell the difference.

I guess I've been lucky with CZs. I have a couple (not engagement rings laugh) had them for years and there are no scratches, look the same as the day I got them.

Awwh... you are a devil... I was wondering tho... devil

and beware of the black diamond.. which is sort of popular recently... still has a hardness of 10... but can be easily mistaken for onyx..

With the number of engagements that get cancelled that would be a good business.

Mickle.. if you look after them, as in no washing the dishes, digging in the garden etc.. they can still look great.. but if you wear Cubics everyday, like an engagement ring.. then the wear takes its toll.

However, they make great earrings for example... they don't rub against anything. so they stay pretty good.. bouquet
