So we have all been in love (denial) at some point and have all dreamed of the perfect life with the perfect partner (picket fences and all that crap) but in all fairness be honest is it actually love we feel or boredom or lonliness. Im 33 now and single again and this whole love thing is just getting more mythical as the years go by! I think love is just learning how to tolerate someone but im guessing every woman on here will disagree.

Love is not to tolerate someone.
Love can be created, felt....

I do know what love is and I have been in love.
If someone asked me if I could have given one of my kidneys to the person I have loved, my answer would have been, yes!
(just as an example)

laugh

Love is giving.
Just do not take Love for granted.

I do not disagree, I have endured first a three year, then a six, then a seven, then a 13 year relationship. I understand. I feel things are better for me now. I at the time had some issues. U have it right. Now I see things differently. I am happier now then ever. PEACE HH

I see your point. How often I've seen couples on a night out together, sitting next to one another and not a word spoken between them, looking bored out of their minds. I couldn't bear being in a relationship that's bored

I think most men get confused between love and lust...

There really is a difference and it takes time for us to learn what that is.

It's what you make of it and not the same for everyone, it surely depends on past experiences.

I had good relationships and never had to "tolerate" someone and I can't ever see myself doing that. When I look around, there are a lot of relationships I wouldn't be hanging around in, but then, there are some where people are very happy.

Choose wisely! wine

I think people can feel that there in love when they first meet, one just wants to spend all their time with them, infatuation, passion ,chemicals in our brain are released ,it's a love bug, smitten ,a drug ...known as the honey moon period that starts to decline after two years of this infatuation of this person and reality sets in..if the relationship is strong enough and withstands this test a time ,and the couple start to have space from one one another while still loving that Person and communication and the bond is getting stronger then a more genuine love can grow,.

Love is tested to withstand the good and the bad times,to be thete for one another,

This is real love the other is romantic love but alot of couples manage to keep that romance alive too,..

You ask how much I love you, must I explain
I need you oh my darlin', like roses need rain
You ask how long I'll love you, I'll tell you true
Until the twelfth of never, I'll still be lovin' you

Hold me close, never let me go, hold, hold me close--
Melt my heart like April snow--
I'll love you 'til the bluebells forget to bloom
I'll love you 'til the clover has lost its perfume
I'll love you 'til the poets run out of rhyme
Until the twelfth of never, and that's a long, long time
Yes, that's a long, long time----

anyone who has ever been in love connects with this song. Love is such a special value, it cannot be explained in mere words. I wish Love for you, Nick, so you can see what can't be explained.

I spend so much time
Believing all the lies to keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth for loving what was you

Les yeux sans visage, eyes without a face

Now I close my eyes
And I wonder why I don't despise?
Now all I can do
Is love what was once so alive and new
But it's gone from your eyes
I'd better realize

Les yeux sans visage, eyes without a face

Yanno, I read this earlier today and it kind of hung around in my mind all day hmmm

I had picket fences in mind when I was around 16 or 17 but in getting married not much later found that my 'self' got buried and tucked away, I thought that was what you were meant to do.

I was barely more than a child really, dreams and plans were shelved and realized much much later.

My thoughts are that what we are really looking for in a partner is someone who recognizes who we are, they get us and we them, we walk side by side and don't need to question dreams and goals..

Call it what you will, love, whatever, but to achieve it is rare and if you do find it, hold on tight handshake

Love is a living thing, that grows and natures when cares for by both proles in a relationship. It just as easily does or can be killed by a person who poisons it through apathy, selfishness, and the lack of spiritual water, just like a plant can either as ND die.

KY is the failure to recognise love as a living thing, that leads to dead hearts, dead souls, and calloused hearts that do not knowhow to love, or what love really is.

I don't know Nick, you might be right. I thought that love was a selfless act, an unconditional act, so perfection is not really wanted or needed, because it is the imperfections that are embraced and loved.

However, when we have no one in our life to connect with in an emotional way, I think men and women have watched others and decide that they are going to develop the outward appearance of having a perfect partner. So they find someone that meets their ideal version and go through the motions to date, settle down and do stuff together.

And I have read that there are actually people that are incapable from feeling love at all.

I don't think you are one of them? But I don't know you.
