stanley8m: So, you farmers pay VAT but use agri diesel? Ahem Buzzy, if I buy diesel I pay full VAT whereas your diesel is only 80 cents a litre, so where is that loss of VAT being made up? Muggins here and all the other honest hardworking taxpayers are subsidising your agri diesel my friend.

Oh and as for these farmers buying machinery and putting up sheds, do you honestly think I believe that there are NO GRANTS payments made for these, now be very careful how you answer Buzzy.

Oh and these wealthy farmers buying machinery and paying tax, if they are so hard working and successful in business, do they forfeit the subsidies, grants and pay full VAT on their diesel like the honest hardworking taxpayers?

No, they bloody well don't, because Irish farmers are sponging parasites, scrounging a living off the hard working taxpayers.

you can buy the same diesel at the same price, it not just for farm use, if you like you can put it into your car haha, yes their were grans for sheds about 2 year ago, i said this before a farmer gets 10000 of a grant, they have to spent another 10 at least to do the shed to spec that has to be done, you could put up the same shed for 10000 without a grant, i know that we never got a grant for sheds.
the do long hours and work hard for what they have. if you think that farming is 9 to 5 job you can think again. they are out in all types of weather and no sick days, yes some are making money, not much but a bit, if they didn't get subsidies the would be loosing money, not the farmers fault but the government, farmers would be the first to give up the subsidies if they would get good price for their product, unless the government helps the farmer gets a good price, if they put up the price in shops people like u would complain. what can they do only try help farmers

If farmers force up prices of Irish foodstuff we will buy cheaper imports, Irish oranges and bananas aren't great now are they. lol.

Irish farmers bully their way because they think they have the taxpayer over a barrel. Why don't we subsidise Irish taxi drivers and Irish plumbers, Irish jewellers and Irish accountants?

Fare enough, we all will live on oranges and bananas, sure we will import everything.
Who has the farmer over a barrel?? when you know so much.
all the jobs you mentioned are well paid jobs, Irish Jewelry is expensive.
Waterford Crystal gone why? it cost to much to produce in Ireland, Governments Fault
Its the same with farming in this country it costs 2 much to Produce
Its not the Farmers fault

Why complain about farmers??

The agri-food sector is one of Ireland's most important indigenous manufacturing sectors, accounting for employment of around 150,000 people.

Exactly Buzzy, Irish farms are not successful because the lazy sponging farmers are happy to take all the grants, subsidies and drive around in their tractors on practically VAT free diesel.
If they weren't being subsidised by the hard working taxpayer they would have to sell their land which would result in large successful profit making enterprises.

Shure why don't we all run businesses that haven't a hope of making a profit and live off subsidies.

I will write to the Farmers association and tell them I want to start a business making Mechanical diggers out of sponge cake and jelly, see if I can grants and subsidies . laugh
