Do not put all of your eggs in one basket.
Use both online, and RL opportunities to find someone.

Dear JJ,
the only way you will know is to take the bull by the horns.
You ask him.
If he accepts, you can start making plans.
If he doesn't, you can choose to either cut your losses and leave, or staying put knowing marriage will never be on the cards.

Best? Nope. It's a method, but I wouldn't say it was the best. Getting out and about and interacting with people is the best. You may not find someone, but you'll certainly have more fun.
