PinkCoral2: Depression stems from a lack of self-love. Love yourself and it will go away. That simple.

That is TOTALLY false!! Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain, it is a serious medical condition just like diabetes, cancer, IBS, etc.... It NEVER just "goes away!" frustrated

That's clinical depression, but most people suffering from depression do not have this condition. And depression can just go away, in fact it goes away quite often...in an instant when thoughts are changed. This might be for a few seconds, or a few minutes, but the condition reacts entirely to the kind of thoughts we are thinking. Most cases of depression are situational. When a persons situation changes, or they learn to accept their situation, their depressive thoughts will decrease along with their depressive state of mind...it's learned behaviour.

Are you talking about cognetive behaviour therepy, yes this is very helpful.

If its the type depression that needs medication then whatever needs must,I think alternative may help also, be it aromatherapy oils ,first check with practioner that it dosnt effect medication that one may be on, food and diet is important,,vitamin d is supposed to be great along with the b complex which is good for the nervous system.

And remember its okay to have a bad day if your feeling down and feel like a good cry but its when the darkness persists we know we have problems and can't get out of bed no incentive,.

Cognetive therepy is very beneficial along with talking about issues that one may have had but have been suppressed , , not to isolate oneself .

I read through all the replies, and I want to thank everyone for chipping in on this one. There are many different views on this topic, some more correct than others. Here is what I do know about this.

The average person will at some point in their lives can and will have some form of depression, though it be temporary.

Some more of us have to deal with it daily or often enough to make it a reoccurring theme.

Medications work provided you find the right medication and the right dose.

Depression is not just in your head, its a real condition. Trust me, I wish it was as easy as just being in your head.

For those of us who deal with it, we have to remember and accept the fact that not everyone is going to understand.

To those who do not or wish to understand, just stay out of the way of those of us who do deal with it. Makes everyone's lives easier including yours.

Suicide is never the answer, no matter what the circumstance is.
