(CNN) -- A man suspected of beheading a woman and stabbing another at an Oklahoma workplace had recently been fired, police said Friday.
Alton Alexander Nolen, 30, was terminated from his job at Vaughan Foods just before the rampage Thursday afternoon in Moore, Oklahoma, said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis of the Moore Police Department.
Nolen recently had been trying to convert co-workers to Islam, Lewis said, citing investigators' interviews with witnesses. Moore police have asked the FBI to help investigate the man's background, Lewis said.
Earlier Friday, U.S. law enforcement officials said there were no indications of a link to terrorism.
The incident happened at the Vaughan Foods processing plant in Moore, about 10 miles south of Oklahoma City.
The company's chief operating officer, Mark Vaughan, shot Nolen, Lewis said; Vaughan is a reserve sheriff's deputy.
Nolen and the surviving victim were hospitalized. Both are listed in stable condition.
peachmelba: Well then it wasn't linked to terrorism,
It's not like beheading is coming into fashion.
Indeed. It's also becoming increasingly popular amongst cartels looking to send messages to rivals. They go to the extent of dropping off the head to the rivals doorsteps.

They just eat your face off here in Florida I do believe there is actual truth about people becoming desensitized by being bombarded with so much violence around them. What use to shock me now disgust me. Snugs you are like me and have been in this world a while. Do you see this also? Does it sadden your soul like it does mine. Hope all is well your way and hope you have mended since your surgery

Even long before television existed we had people who went to areana s to watch gladiators fight to the death, and Christians being killed by lions while the audience watched,
We had the nobles being beheaded at the guillotine while women sat looking on cheering, while knitting,
We have Gouls who feed off violence ,was like that since the beginning of time,

Yes I agree with you. Its like a film being played out,the media can be positive and negative,
Positive it is good we can see what horrors are taking place, but sometimes it's just images the media only want us to see, ,.
I turn the channel over on my tv if its too heavy.

Happy, never in my wildest fantasy would I have thought that we would be living in a world of so much violence and fear. I remember the day when the worst thing we worried about was how much snow we were going to get.
I'm not desensitized about violence. I know it's the new world and that I have to adjust to it. Now I have to be aware of people around me, in the line at the grocery store, if I stop at a convenience store to buy coffee, no matter where I go, I have to be aware of who is in my space.
I am saddened that I feel like I'm no longer just living a normal life. Now it has turned to survival.
Thank you for asking about my knee. It's all heeled and every chance I get I chance as many men as possible.
peachmelba: I think all the women in the world should rise up against Isis and learn to shoot and I know where I would aim for,
They would have no balls to even run away.

I read an article about her. How cool is that and pretty too
She reminds me of Mekalah (sp) in Iraq or Iran who was almost killed because she believes young women have the right to an education.
