The woman whose story of economic recovery was showcased by President Barack Obama in his State of the Union address is a former Democratic campaign staffer and has been used by Obama for political events in the past.

Rebekah Erler has been presented by the White House as a woman who was discovered by the president after she wrote to him last March about her economic hardships. She was showcased in the speech as proof that middle class Americans are coming forward to say that Obama’s policies are working.

Unmentioned in the White House bio of Erler is that she is a former Democratic campaign operative, working as a field organizer for Sen. Patty Murray (D., Wash.).

This also wasn’t the first time the White House used the former Democratic campaign staffer as a political prop. Obama spent a “day in the life” of Erler in June so that he could have “an opportunity to communicate directly with the people he’s working for every day.”

Reuters revealed Erler’s Democratic affiliations following that June event, and the Minnesota Republican Party attacked Obama for being “so out of touch with reality that he thinks a former Democrat campaign staffer speaks for every Minnesotan.........”

Not a mention of our 18+ trillion dollar debt, that I recall in the presidents 2015 SOTU speech, yet president Obama wants to raise taxes to make more people dependent on the federal government. what the heck.

Pretty soon we will be receiving infomercials here in the states on how great ObamaEdu
will be. We just need to pass it to see what's in it. hahaha ... frustrated

“Affordable Child care for working Americans. Would make more people dependent on government instead of family. - it is private insurance companies - not government - the government only set up and operated the market exchange - like setting up the stock exchange. The government is not our enemy - it is us, our neighbors the school teachers, the bus drivers, the postal workers, the librarians, the FDA, FAA, the federal parks, the life guards, the coast guard, ....

Better wages with hard work, and upgraded education... Sounds good to me.

Rewards for businesses to develop jobs in America for Americans. tax incentives? Don't know how this is going to role out? - it's a work to progress

Free public State community colleges. Nonsense - why not? 2 states are already doing it.

Sick leave. Everyone should have at 70% of pay. what we should have and what policies are in place to what we do have ..... big difference

Better rewards for working than give aways for the welfare people and companies. How would any of this work? American ingenuity. The policy idea gets to various local and state governing bodies to look at current legislation and current rules and see where they can be "improved" and then legislation is proposed.... and then....

Joining the world community at the negotiating table instead of being the bully enforcing our outdated and one sided agendas on the little countries. Bully? Examples please? Iran.

Cyber security Government's job. More than a few have been asleep at the wheel lately. True that!

Scientific looking at climate change. Their is no science to climate change because valid supporting longitudinal data don't exist. just like science can age fossiles in rocks for goodness sake (carbon dating and other such measurements) - so too can change be measured. The Canadian shoved a hollow metal pole so far down into the earth in the north ice - and they could measure the chemical compounds of the makeup of the ice to determine the bugs and microbes in the ice, and oxygen etc to figure out what it was like when that layer was formed... the deeper they go, the further back in time it measures...

Good comments - I am pumped at his direction..... but he only has 2 years and those stinking Republican children in congress to deal with.

Did anyone catch the following statement president Obama mad in his 2015 SOTU speech?

"My only agenda for the next two years is the same as the one I’ve had since the day I swore an oath on the steps of this Capitol?—?to do what I believe is best for America. If you share the broad vision I outlined tonight, join me in the work at hand. If you disagree with parts of it, I hope you’ll at least work with me where you do agree. And I commit to every Republican here tonight that I will not only seek out your ideas, I will seek to work with you to make this country stronger."

Really!!!!,

I thought he swore an oath to uphold the constitution of the United States? Such unequivocal bloviating pompous Marxist dictatorial arrogance!

comfort now that it is out of your system.......

Don't you want to see your local government and States working to get free childcare for working americans, fix our immigration system, raise the standards for the middle and working class, have our congress work and pass a budget that forwards the will of the people. Support more programs for our veterans, upgrade our education system, protect our resources, improve our standing in the world view.

It's a lot of work

- because we are 308 million folk, that like to "sit-ins" and "hold occupy wall street" and get on the band wagon and just hold marches and protests and then go home and let the local communities clean up our mess

- because we like to sit on our 2nd amendment and then scratch our head and our butts as to why we have such large gun accidents and killings.

- because we hide behind "our rights" when acting out in criminal ways.....

if we are to act like the emerging nation in the world we have to stop acting like children - we can no longer stand on the sidelines and shout about the injustices in our life or in the world - we have the ability to get the knowledge, know-how and teams together to make ourselves and our nation better.

We have the ability to hold large corporations accountable like ordinary citizen - especially since they sponge off us, and don't pay their taxes in America - yet we buy their products without thinking about who they are, and where the stuff we like are from.

We have the ability to look at our local businesses and see if they are paying women the say rate of pay as the man for the same jobs..... and hold those businesses accountable to explain.

We have the ability to develop better relationships with our security forces, our police to start to build trust and help them weed out any corruption among their ranks - they are us too.

We have the ability to ask our stinking news medias to start reporting more on items of how our local governments work. (for this one, I would love for those interested to know about the money that comes from the federal government along with local tax dollars goes to those charities and non-profits to operate a homeless helpline, emergency beds for homeless that are too sick for the shelter and not sick enough for the hospital; it pays part of the salaries of homeless and formerly homeless to deliver social services; transitional housing for those that need just a little help to get back into world, permanent housing for those that have a disability or are elderly; help for kids aging out of foster care; job training, job locations, links to affordable housing.....)

sadly rant is not over.....

Before Mars, we need to elect a president of the USA who has lunar-vision and willing to support the industrialization of the Moon to ship valuable resources found there back to earth. Question is, will it be a woman who builds the moon, or just another man like those that built America (Vanderbuilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Morgan, Ford etc.)? wink laugh

don't forget we can dump our garbage into outer space too - why just pollute rivers, lakes, oceans and seas?

don't forget that there were laws and rules that did not allow women to "build" anything but to "keep" the home clean and the children raised.....

I firmly believe and attest here today that we have a right to peruse happiness and wealth but we do not have a right to expect government to provide for us and to decide for us as suggested.

To answer your first question, if people can't afford children, then they shouldn't have them expecting others to support them. More government-provided childcare just perpetuates more of the need for government in children's lives instead of a family; two parents, husband and wife, mother and father etc. that was a good working concept before. Now, Children grow up today looking towards the government for everything, instead of parents; where's my ObamaPhone? Where's my ObamaCare, where's my HillaryChildcare, where's my HillaryEdu? How fast can a shrimp swim?

And thirdly, I would like to see our 1.2 million Active military personnel, especially those still abroad, where past wars have evidently never ended, home protecting our homeland at the borders, instead of us seeing our own young women and men continue and give the ultimate sacrifice abroad for others who care less and/or certainly do not understand that without our second amendment, the world would be a really dangerous place for everyone living.

And regarding government paid higher education in community colleges, although I was eligible for it there then, just a few years ago, it didn't work in California.

All these free programs just leads to passing more debt on to posterity, who in turn, become more reliant on federal government; which is very sad imo.
