It is actually Indigo/Ebony for gentlemen and Magenta for ladies.

Because traditionally, in the west at least, boys are represented by blue, and girls by pink.
Babies are often dressed in these colours to make it easier to distinguish them easily.

So you can discern male from female easily if a photo is obscure or absent.
If Maddog's name wasn't blue, he'd be bombarded by messages from men.
