Believe it or not, it was the same for me too D. I was never comfortable at parties or social gatherings especially if I didn't know many people...a loner of sorts.

I'm a self confessed people watcher and have more fun than the wild ones. I would rather be remembered as the quiet, wall flower. Just love the morning after when I receive a phone call and a small voice wants to know if their behaviour was really that bad. Of course I exaggerate just to make them worry for a while

Though you stood "alone" in fact as you see from other's comments that there are many of us that felt that same isolation. It was tough back then but as an adult I wonder if it is even more challenging as a Adult. At the end of the day I find that I am still the outsider. I can only say that in my life there were some times that I will remember when I was not so alone. I hope one day I will experience that once again.

I'd force myself to get amongst it. Talking to girls was exceptional when really most lads in their natural, lazy and default state would sit in the corner and rate the alcopops.

And the ruse works. Not once did anybody realise the sheer amount of energy I was expending to appear normal. Track, if I can appear as a sane, functioning member of the human race without a thing anyone can do to prove otherwise then you definitely can. Put your spliff out, stop being entranced by your own uniqueness like a woman, and have a crack at something like a man does.
