This, in socks.
Sock hops were/are usually for the younger kids and teens, many times organized by the school in the gym.
And shoes are left on the sideline.

We had sock hops at my Catholic high school usually in the Autumn. We had a different names for them though and we had to leave if we showed up at the gymnasium in shorts. uh oh Go figure mackerel snappers. laugh
