You are completely right. Unfortunately this site has become a platform for the extremists, and we allowed it, and it is our fault.
It is our fault because we did nothing to stop those morons – I fact we participate in their strategy of hate.
- When we interact with demagogues in a “polite way”, we are endorsing their profile.
- when we become “friends ” with any type of extremist, we are validating their profile
- when we allow them to post comments on our threads we are confirming their profile.
the methods those extremists are using is based on “feelings - sensitivities, fears, insecurities, core beliefs, religion, politics”, and they are not interested in discus any idea. in fact most of the threads the main Title has nothing to do with the content of the thread.
Think how we jump into a tread – is wither by the number of comments of by novelty. look how some threads are always in top, and who put them there - fake profiles mostly.
They know what they’re doing - we, “the others”, don’t.
I don’t think we can change the mind of the extremists and manipulators– “ the biggest weapons in any extremist manipulator are the tactics of shaming and guilt-tripping. And the reason for this is quite simple: neurotics, by definition, have a high degree of conscientiousness and hate to think they’ve said or done anything wrong or shameful.
Sometimes conscientious people try to lay guilt or shame on disturbed characters, thinking it will somehow prompt them to modify their behavior. But they quickly learn that these tactics don’t work on disturbed characters. You have to have a big sense of right and wrong and an equally big desire to be a good person for these tactics to have any effect. In short, you have to have a pretty well-developed conscience, something disturbed characters lack.”
Don’t expect CS to change their format – it is a free site and they have no obligation to change anything. Why would they incur in extra costs?
This site reminds me of a nation where extremist took power by coup d’état and everyone is complaining but doing nothing to change it. is either run away or stay like a sheep and be part of the “group”. Few exceptions I have to say. Or you can try to change it.
