Farlands: Creatures resetting

Really enjoying Farlands! But on day 3 here and I'm starting to notice a pattern: in each location with multiple "sentient creatures," one of my creatures gets reset at the beginning of each day. So coming back to the shore on day 3, I have my one giffle who's got his name and is level 3, and I've got another one who's been reset to level 1 and is named "Giffle D" (interesting that the letter designation is incrementing.) Now seeing the same problem in the jungle location. Any ideas? Is it likely that re-installing would fix it?
