UsernameTaken123: You are quite right the title was Gender Discrimination and you are entitled to open it up as wide as you want. I only posted about the wage gap as that is what I was interested in was not preparing to argue about whether the toilet seat should be up or down, if it should be Mr&Mrs vs Mrs&Mr.
Feel free to take it where ever.

'Gender discrimination' is simply a tactic to divide the people and create and 'us' and 'them' for the rulers to exploit? A family united will never be defeated but when you can get that family to attack themselves the parasites and thieves can sneak in to steal the silverware.

It's quite well documented that establishment figures and even the CIA were behind the creation of feminism and that the objective was divided families with more easily controllable individuals.

The governments have the solution already at hand and it will not be to the advantage of women. Let them find that out the hard way. The solution to the 'pay gap' is for women to work harder - duh! Enjoy the overtime biaches LOL

secretagent09: You're embarrassing yourself Rohaan whining like that.

Helpless victims?

The next time I read a story about a woman who was beaten by a man she loves I'll send it to you and you can tell me who the victim was.
I don't believe so. You don't know me at all. I have championed for women all my life. I am talking about an area that is very real, and very much under-reported and assisted with. Just because someone advocates for something specific doesn't mean they are not aware, or do not care about other areas of trauma. You do not know what you are ranting about if you think bringing a very real issue to the table is "whining". How would women like it if their protests and hard work for fairness, reform, and anti-battery were simply brushed off as "whining"? You have no idea how extremely sophomoric your careless comments sound. If you truly believe the way you do, you are one dangerous person. I am a very fair, equitable man, but your view is absolutely reckless. You do not get it at all. scold

Perhaps you are right. I understand. There are so few arenas to discuss my topic matter, and the reasons for being neutral or silent are obvious from some of the commentary. (Everyone has a right to opinions). For the record, I have never before had anyone, male or female, discard the importance of this social issue. People seem to get that it does happen, at least. I can only surmise that some simply do not understand because it is not generally talked about. On topic now--yes, I have always believed that the same pay for the same work should apply to everyone, regardless of gender. Good enough?

I'm guessing gender pay parity, or the lack thereof, can be measured in a myriad of ways.

Each claim should state it's parameters and not knowing the commercials you cite, it's not possible to answer your question directly.

There is the standard 'equal pay for equal work', but that's often clouded by giving the same jobs different titles and maybe slightly different job descriptions/contracts to different people.

There's the average pay of men and women within populations.

The issue in both cases is not always underhand bias, but often to do with having children. Women are more likely to take a career break and so have more difficulty in career development, or they simply take on poorly paid, part-time work which fits in with their childcare commitments.

If there was more readily available, affordable chilcare, or goddess forbid, a livable minimum wage, the gender pay gap would likely diminish somewhat.

The trouble is, I strongly suspect tax revenue from business profits with a low minimum wage outweighs any tax revenue a government would get from individuals on a livable wage.

Likewise, a large business will pay out less in tax on profits, than if they had to increase wages.

On October 25, thousands of Icelandic women went home at 2:38PM, after 86% of their work-days had passed, to protest the fact that they only earn 86% of their male counterparts' wages.

They turned out for a mass demonstration that echoed the 1975 protests over pay equity, which saw over 90% of the country's women take to the street.

Rumples: And it might not be the death knoll of civilisation. One of the greatest nations on earth(America)was founded on giving everyone a free farm.

No! not at all, many countries did.

The death knoll.
Is for the fact who had the right?
After the slaughter?

That's what erupts now in this day and age.
Time you you moved on with your thinking.

I used to live in a potato-growing area and noticed the women and men get the same pay. The women sew up 50kg sacks of spuds, and then the men lift them. I never worked on potato farms, even though I'd be prepared to learn that level of sewing so I could do equal work for equal pay with my co-workers... So ladies, I'll have a laugh at your expense next time I buy shirt for $10 that has double the amount of fabric your $40 singlet has. Then I'll go get a haircut at the barbers for a fraction of what you'd pay...

There are a numbervof ways of measuring gender pay parity, orvthe lack thereof.

Each claim should cite it's parameters and sources. Different parameters will likely indicate different aspects and causes of the gender pay gap.

Without knowing the commercials you cite, it's not possible to answer your question directly.

The ads described, would be paid for by the state (QLD) government. The state government is a labor (union rep) woman, who didnt really win the election as much as the unpopular Campbell Newman (Liberal, big business) lost it. Anastacia is pretty useless, only seems to open her mouth to change feet.

The "glass ceiling" is basically a nonsense that mediocre people use to justify being an overweight mad cat lady, my personal hero Gail Kelly shows that for what it is. I think she gets paid 10 or 20 million dollars a year to run a bank or corporation or whatever. She can wash my dishes any time.
