What are you into? Stocks, Bonds, ETF's. Are you a buy and hold type or a day trader or something in between? What were some of your best/worst moves?
Yahoo used to have a great platform for discussing investing when they had stock message boards but like just about everything else connected to yahoo they screwed it up and they all went away.
I don't invest in stocks much anymore, I'm more into what are called CEF's or Closed End Funds. Back in 2005 I took a position in a company called Worldgate WGAT, which made a stand alone video phone. Everybody I told about it thought it was a fantastic idea so I jumped in. It was probably the biggest mistake I ever made. I lost a bundle. The problem with a video phone is that everybody would like to see who they're talking to, but they don't want to BE seen. Add to that you can only connect with other video phones on the same network. If that's not enough the phones cost about $600 for a pair. A webcam will do just about the same thing as a videophone.
So how about it, got any tips, ideas, strategies to share?
Land is a long term investment, very long term. Land doesn't pay a monthly dividend either. The only way to earn income from land is to farm it, lease it or sell it.

My son left he's land to sit for a few years..He cleaned up big time when he sold it.
ooby_dooby: Anybody have a large nest egg in a savings acct? What is the annual yield or interest rate you're getting? I'll tell you how much you're losing.
Really Oobs, it would take a real fool to disclose investments etc on here.

I disagree. People can discuss ideas about investments without divulging personal info. For instance my son recently said he was thinking of taking a position in a Co called Ollies because where he lives they are opening new stores all over the place. I looked into it and it was selling for around $74. a share. More recently the PPS was over $80 and the curve was going up at a steady pace. I told him he should have gotten into it back in April when it was trading at around $40.
It looks like nobody on this site has any investments or interest in growing their net worth. Too bad, I was hoping to find someone to compare notes with.
