Bnaughty: I Am the TRUTH
what jesus said is true.

I am the way , the TRUTH , and the light , nobody comes to the father but through me.

yet, the word was in the world,, many did not receive him.

…………………………………………………..
god , gave the law through moses.,

but, TRUTH and grace , he gave through jesus Christ.

so , if truth was not absolute , how then could god have given it, and jesus have it as a result.

…………………………………………………………………..

besides, if truth is not absolute ,,,,,,then all comments n opinions on truth are untrue....

which is true.laugh

lookinforhappy: truth is as truth does. ...

truth can be spoken in relation to stuff...… for ex. ...a colour blind person may believe red is blue. that fact is correct. its is true that he thinks , perceives such a thing.

however , red is red , blue is blue , ….that's true of the colours

like wise, it is true that people believe in truth , also in lies, or in untruths,

however, truth is truth, untruth is untruth.

both are opposities .

hence,

absolute …..in their nature.

me thinks.
What appears to mind we take as true, it's our basis of interpreting the world around us. All phenomena appears to mind as real and true. But it's an illusion, nothing really exists from its own side or is independent of other phenomena, including the 'self.'
The only truth really is the emptiness that contains everything, but no one thing.

pedro27: You are not IN the universe, you ARE the universe, an intrinsic part of it. Ultimately you are not a person, but a focal point where the universe is becoming conscious of itself. What an amazing miracle.” – Eckhart Tolle
if you are an intrinsic PART of something, then that is what one is …..a PART, therefore , are IN something.
they are not the universe , because that is made up of many parts..

just like an ingredient IN a cake , is not the whole cake. it merely shares in common with other parts that it is in it.

consciousness does not share its properties with its opposite ...unconsciousness. 2 diff parts...not one.

Eckhart tolle ….had some weird ideas. laugh

(living in the moment was one of them)

when obviously everything we do , is as a result of the past, ..as is the moment,

in that context , if what appears to mind we take as true. then we take both truth and untruth as true.
which is only true in a specific context. ie , that we perceive what comes to mind. regardless of its nature.

but the mind doesn't take both opposites as being the same as in its own individual truth. the mind can and does distinguish between things. it knows the difference between truth and untruth. (a healthy mind )
even sometimes its difficult to discern the truth , nevertheless , there is a truth and falsehood to be found.

for ex....is the above quote (bodeling)presented,...true or false. ? and in what context. .

truth ...is a word we use to refer to SOMETHING. its is as with all language symbolic. represents something other than the word yet its meaning is in the word.

I don't think truths or untruths are illusions that don't exit. beer

Yes words are pointers just as signposts are and of course a signpost bears no similarity to the place it's pointing to. The word in itself has no inherent substance or quality, it can't be true or untrue.

What appears to mind is true in isolation, but anything that is manifest can never exist in isolation, that is the illusion.

You are interested in the oppression of women, people are going to react to that. You are free to post what you like, but everyone else is free to respond to it how they like.

What is it that you always say? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results", or something like that.

Zen and the art of coffee making.
Life is like a cup of coffee -
It's best when the cup is full
And you have to get out of bed
To make it fresh

wave

yes, that's because a word is a word. the mind is the mind. a concept is a concept. and so forth , just as a substance is a substance ,.whatever it is.

regardless of something having a substance or not, being manifest or not , that item in itself is not a thing called truth. it merely is what it is.

but , truth refers to the truth of something. ,, . 2 different things.

it can refer to as to whether a word or bunch of words or sentences are true or false. in terms of truth itself.

words , can also , express truths , or falsehoods.

but nevertheless words are words in themselves.

it is like brain is matter but thoughts are thoughts.
the brain in itself is not a thought..a concept.

its like that with words and truths.

you can know of a truth as you can with a thought. ..or the mind.
but it not a thing that can be put on a plate to be seen.like a brain or a word or an item.
but it is what it is in itself.

truth is truth
that's the truth. beer
