Hi Dino...Without sounding ignorant here, do you have some links to vids I could watch about this subject?
I have been under a blanket practically my whole life and am just learning here.
So hoping you or someone could provide me with some info, so I can educate myself beer wave

There are numerous movies you could watch but I would suggest you just google "six counties Ireland". That will give you a general idea but, in all honesty, you had to live here to understand it.

If you want to watch a move, that is not Hollywood, I recommend "In The Name of The Father" and "Some Mothers Son".

Try to get information from both sides and make up your own mind (I forget how to post the Irish flag)
sigh

Hello there, never worry about sounding "ignorant" there are many from this country that remain ignorant to what went on here in the North..

Here is a good doc, from a respected journalist..

Other movies with a good grip on the truth are - The wind the shakes the Barley.

Also "Hunger" With Michael Fassbender

This is about the Shankill Butchers, a Loyalist/Unionist/Protestant killer gang that roamed my/our streets here in the North of Ireland.

Hopefully you find them interesting and informative, there are many others to glean information from...

Stay safe

Dino.

I watched this movie several times and liked it very much. Needless to say there is much that I didn't know about your island and found it very interesting. I'm not a Jackie Chan fan but after seeing his performance in this movie I realize he is more than a martial arts artist.

I don't think you could learn much about the conflict that went on here through this movie, but if we had of had Jackie here back in the day I'm sure we would have had the Brits out long ago..laugh

See if you can spot a young Pierce in this classic, a great movie too..peace

Dino, one of the reasons I posted the movie is because of the betrayal of the peace process agreement between the Irish and the Brits still happening in the modern world behind the scenes. You would only see this if you watched the whole movie.

The movie has a story of how Pierce's character wasn't able to leave behind who he was 33 years ago when he was in the IRA. If you saw the whole movie you would see that a group of men, who were part of the IRA from years ago, banded together to call themselves The Real IRA. That is the plot of the movie that causes the betrayal between the Irish and the British.

irish thumbs up

I switched it off when I heard the accent, love Jackie Chan though, besides Harrison Ford already defeated the I.R.A. twice years ago..peace

That's okay, you can do whatever you want even if it's being prejudiced against an accent wow
