It helps to have a well traveled and good travel agent and friends who have places ahead of you to make things easier.

Do you mean help as in it helps you set up a timetable of where to go and when???

I dunno, personally I find having a sense of adventure and just going into the unknown is way more rewarding..and fun. Unless of course there's something specific that has to be timetabled ...grin

I agree with you Blathin and Gal both some holidays do need planning especially long distance ones and that is great but also just getting up and taking off is just as good!
This time last year I was in Australia with my son and it was nice as he planned part of the holidays for me but I was there for 6 weeks and he had work commitments so I decided to go to Tasmania for a week alone and I love it.
Happy Sunday

I usually figure out most major things in cities which I want to see and then turn it over to a travel agent who helps me tweak my itinerary to fit the time I take for vacations abroad. This might include currency exchanges, arrangements by various air and ground travel companies, tickets or passes to concerts, cinema, plays, operas and other amusement as well as hotels, rentals etc.

Currency exchange? Tickets? ,passes?, concerts?, ...well everything you've listed there...

Use r*volut. It/they're amazing.

Multiple accounts in any currency you want. Interbank rates for currency exchanges and no whopper charges. Plus their concierge service will source and set up anything you could possibly ask for...

Sad that you got a thimbs down on your post here. confused

My friend, whom has traveled extensively, had her third book on traveling solo published last year. I’m mentioned in her third book’s acknowledgements, but I’m not sure if is complimentary or how to respond to her. laugh

Nules is one of the kindest posters on this site..really makes you wonder why anyone would thumbs down one of her posts. It says more about them..than her..

We were always going to travel places...when we retired. That didn’t happen...but, I am thankful for the few places we did get to go and see..

I’m not one to travel places alone....I admire those that can and do though.

Winthrop48: Some years ago I was walking around Paris on my own. A young woman approached me and spoke French to me, I replied is English that I spoke and understood very little French. Not sure what her reply was but she disappeared into the crowd. I can only assume she was propositioning me.
Propositioning you? I doubt it!

She was probably just asking for directions or something equally innocuous....

Astranea: You sound like a character from Agatha Christie's novels!

They were always suspicious of foreigners at that time and poor Poirot had to deal with suspicions so many times just because he was Belgian.
Astranea, are you actually from Greenland? Gosh, what an intriguing place to be able to call home.

Welcome to the CS forum by the way, the last bastion of hope for the downtrodden and broken laugh
