Selenite: The words 'restricted' and 'not allowed' are big words to be inflicting on self... I make choices that sit well with me on different levels. They don't feel like restrictions or lack of allowing myself freedoms because my choices match my values at the time I make them ...
Tulefell: Google translate has difficulties with the first word "tri", but the meaning changes when I remove it. Some kind of "happiness ladder"?
From my post in the happiness thread....
"There is a Vietnamese proverb, "Tri tuc, tien tuc, dai tuc, ha thoi tuc." That means, settling for "good enough" is enough. If we wait until all our needs and wants are met, we may wait forever. "Tri tuc" means "good enough." "Good enough" means being content with the minimum amount necessary."

Yes, I went there you sent me and read it there, thanks.

Tulefell: Every wise choice is a restriction, wouldn't you say? Otherwise it would be allowing yourself something you know isn't wise.
No I wouldn't say ... a restriction is something you want to do but don't allow yourself to ...
A wise choice is something I'm totally at peace with, something that sits well with me... to get behind the wheel after having had a drink is not something I would want to do not because I restrict myself but because it sits well with me not to do so... and same with all my choices ... I choose them.because they sit well with me not because I prevent myself from doing something I'd like ...
Your definition of 'restriction' and mine obviously differ ... (I'm not driving)

Well, no, my definition of restriction is exactly the same, as yours: you want something, but don't pursue it.
The difference, perhaps, in what I consider "wise". I'm totally at piece with sitting at my desk and working all day long, despite that the day is sunny and the wind is mild and I'd rather go paddling. (Oh, if only I could make a living by paddling )
I do like my job, it fits me well, but on a sunny day it isn't my first choice. Though a wise one.
