Last Saturday, in the small town of Dadeville, Alabama, USA, a girl was celebrating her sixteenth birthday with a rather large party.

Violence erupted, resulting in four dead and thirty two injured. The police are being rather restrictive on the release of information. So that is about all anybody can say.

The police have arrested six people and charged them with Reckless Murder. That charge means the person was completely indifferent to how their actions might harm people which resulted in a death. I imagine that is just the ground layer of charges coming.

The ages of the six males arrested: 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 20

All but the 15 year has been charged as an adult. This is Alabama, the other five if convicted, will never see freedom again. They will die in prison. They still might upgrade the charges against the 15 year old and treat him as an adult, which is likely.

More arrests are expected. Still no concise picture of what occurred. A lot of rumors.

So many bright futures lost.

Federal law sets a dangerously low minimum age for buying firearms. While the law requires a person to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a licensed firearm dealer, it only requires a person to be 18 to buy a long gun, including an assault weapon, from a dealer.

That statement alone speaks volumes about the gun laws in the U.S. when you look at the ages you have posted.very mad

Tiger Moth, you really do not understand the U.S. gun laws. The are two levels: federal and state. In some rare places municipal.

Federal law: You can a long arm from a licensed dealer at 18 years of age. You have to be 21 years of age to buy a pistol from a licensed dealer. The flaw with that, you can own both legally well below those caps.

State law varies and too complicated to address.

In this instance, nothing indicates one of your hated "assault weapons" was involved. The police have ruled them out.

So what is your definition of an "assault weapon"? It is not a military term.

Post in International about an American, gun related, crime - especially a BLACK ON BLACK incident, with ILLEGAL WEAPONS.... That the MSM has been trying to bury (because it doesn't fit the current narrative)., then you are Globalist, a glutton for punishment or a fool. :

You make a rather lame assumption that everyone purchases their weapon at the local gun store or at a firearms show. Most of the guns on the street are stolen which means they were not acquired by the perpetrator of the crime in a legal manor.

So, not only do they ignore gun laws they ignore laws against murder and any crime involving the use of a weapon. More laws won't solve the problem.

My post was taken from Everytown Research an American website so not my comments but those of a fellow countryman.

Here's the full comment:-

WHAT IT DOES
Federal law sets a dangerously low minimum age for buying firearms. While the law requires a person to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a licensed firearm dealer, it only requires a person to be 18 to buy a long gun, including an assault weapon, from a dealer. The law is even weaker for purchases from unlicensed sellers, with a 18-year old minimum age for handguns and no minimum age for long guns. Many states have raised the age, barring handgun sales to people under 21 and long gun sales to people under 18. The strongest policies generally bar all purchases before a person turns 21. A full discussion on Prohibitors is here.

THE IMPACT
Firearms are the leading cause of death for young people ages 18 to 20, and the firearm suicide rate among this group has increased 41% in the last decade. Eighteen to 20-year-olds commit gun homicides at triple the rate of adults 21 years and older.

Sarcasm duly noted.

Gun shootings in the U.S. are an almost daily occurrence are they not ?

I'm sad that so many innocent people get killed on a daily basis ,and no I will never understand how a country can give guns, legally or illegally, to teenagers etc.

Sorry if my opinion upsets others but when will America stop burying innocent kids caught in a cross fire if you'll excuse the pun.sigh

I also wish that the wild west had not cntinued down the road of "right to carry a revolver in your belt" but now it seems late to change it, as if you tighten in too much only law abiding ones will "suffer". I mean Tiger, if you wanted a puff of some sliff tonight with friend cos you liked to smoke a peace pipe as the 'ol indinas did, would you get hold of it withing a few hours despite it being illegal?

By the way, a classmate of mine shot himself and died when being 13 as his miliary father had guns at home. Pure accident, but just by being "laying" around... killing get's a tad too easy,
I agree, but can it really be changed now (in the US) just by tightening laws. ? I imagine not.

What has a "spliff" got to do with a gun. A loaded spliff won't kill you. Might give you a high if you are luckywink
