I worked in the seafood processing industry for a number of years. Wild game which is harvested, have parasites. In this case it is fish, it is a given. Amberjack and tuna are full of them.
Even the U.S. federal standards for grading fish have an acceptable standard for the number of worms per inch. This is not a big deal. Cook it well done and consider it a value added product. And you will seldom see seafood sold with an official grade stamp. An inspected stamp, but not a grade stamp.
Few of these parasites can survive in a mammal. So eat your fish sandwich and stop crying.
Track16: Fish caught in certain parts of my province have worms in them. Not where I'm to though fortunately.
I am pretty sure you are eating worms. They come in all sorts of sizes and shapes. One of the processes to "grade" for parasites is to slap a fillet on top of a bright light, like a negative. It is impressive what you see.

By the same token: I worked in the medical field for many years. Every living human being, sterile room doctor, celebrity, skid row derelect, is CRAWLING with fauna all over their bodies--tiny mites that live in the eyelash pores, mites so small five thousand could fit on the nose of Lincoln on a penny--all writhing about all of the time--if people could "see" these, many would run down the street screaming .......Many cultures eat bugs. Why, we eat a "bug" when we have lobster or crayfish. Same thing......
