Why do some people describe themselves (on their profile) as something entirely different than what they are?
You will not find the right person for you if you claim to be something youre not.. just be yourself.. there is someone out there that will love the real you

Dunno dunno

Could be many of things...Shyness, confused about their own identity aka have not found themselves yet, cowards, trying to score with as many chicks as they can and hope they don't get caught lol Could be lots of things. The tricky part of online dating I guess.

Cupcakeness, it could be because they are indulged in the process of low self esteem and perhaps they are insecure about themselves. Other times, there profiles are used as bates to hook victims. There could be countless of reasons as to why people do these things.

As I always say, pretending to be somebody you don’t know, will eventually haunt you.

It's quite possible nobody really knows who they are.

We are so much more, and at the same time, less, than what we think...

The biggest problem with me is people just sometimes assume that you are something you are not. No I don't own a motorcycle, and I have never gotten into a bar fight. To be honest I am a nerd and I like it that way.applause

I've done very little online interacting at singles sites until now, but I've already had three interesting experiences involving false advertising:

1) a lady who claimed to be very analytical and an avid reader, whose reading turned out to consist mostly of People's Magazine and Entertainment Weekly, and whose idea of being analytical was being good at crossword puzzles. I'm not joking.

2) A lady who claimed to be a business executive but was in fact a newspaper delivery person.

3) A lady who claimed on her profile to like classical music, but couldn't name any composers or songs she liked (except "that Beethoven guy was good, huh?")

Why? What in the world was the point?
